place between May and July 1999

soldiers and Kashmiri militants into positions
In OperationVijay, launched in June 1999, over 500
Indian soldiers were killed in the three-month long
KargilWar.
It is estimated around 600-4,000 Pakistani militants
and soldiers died as well.
Almost 70% of the territory was recaptured by India
under Atalji’s prime ministerial period.
