Green concrete is revolutionary topic in history of
concrete industry , this was first invented in Denmark
In year 1998.
INTRODUCTION

Concrete is the mixture of cement, sand, water, and
aggregates which can be poured into formwork and form a
hard structure like a stone.
What is concrete ?

 A concrete that made with waste and uses less
energy in its production & produces less carbon
dioxide than normal concrete.
 This is called eco-friendly and reduced
environmental impact for e.g. Energy saving, waste
water.
What is green concrete?

1. It is widely used in the building construction.
Some live example in India are as follows -
 ITC GREEN CENTRE, GURGAUN.
 OLYMPIA TECH PARK, CHENNAI
 CRISIL HOUSE ,MUMBAI
 INDIRA PARYAVARAN BHAWAN, NEW
DELHI
Applications:-
2. It is used in the construction of bridges
Some examples are as follows -
 Jubilee Parkway, USA
 Bhumibol Bridge, THAILAND
 Bang Na Expressway, THAILAND

 Recycled Concrete Aggregate.
 Blast Furnace Slag (BFS).
 Manufactured Sand.
 Glass Aggregate.
 Fly Ash.
Materials for Green concrete

Materials for Green concrete
 Recycled Glass Aggregate.  Manufactured Sand
For Concrete.
 Fly Ash.  Blast Furnace Slag
(BFS).

Fly ash is a by-product produced during the operation
of coal-fired power plants. The finally divided particles
from the exhaust gases are collected in electrostatic
precipitators. These particles are called fly ash.

Ash

A. Utilization of fly ash as a part replacement of
cement or as a mineral admixture in concrete saves
on cement and hence the emission of CO2.
B. Use of good quality fly ash in concrete has shown
remarkable improvement in durability of concrete,
especially in aggressive environment.
Advantage Of Using Fly ash In
Concrete

The concrete which can fall in the category of green
must have following characteristics.
 Optimizes use of available materials
 Enhanced workability.
 Reduced carbon footprint.
 No increase in cost
Features of Green concrete

1. Green concrete having better workability
than conventional concrete.
2. Good thermal resistance and fire resistance.
3. Green concrete uses local and recycled
materials in concrete.
4. Compressive strength and Flexural
behaviour is fairly equal.
Advantages :-

 Higher ultimate strength
 Increased durability
 Improved workability
 Reduced bleeding
Some of the technical benefits of the
use of fly ash in green concrete.

 Structures constructed with green concrete have
comparatively less life structures with conventional
concrete .
 Using of green concrete ,water absorption is high.
 Split tension of green concrete is less than that of
conventional concrete.
Limitation :-

Green concrete is the revolutionary topic in the history
of concrete industry.
 As green concrete is made with wastes it does not
take more time to come in India because industries
having problem to dispose wastes.
 Also having reduced environmental impact with
reduction in co2 emission.
