2. Geometric Isomer- Is a chemical compound
having the same molecular formula as another
but a different geometric configuration, as
when atoms or groups of atoms are attached in
different spatial arrangements on either side of
a bond or a ring.
“Cis” means to be on the same side of a
molecular formula.
While “trans” means to be on different sides of
the molecular formula.
5. “Trans” isomers usually are more stable than
“Cis” isomers because they are more straight and
have a easier time forming hydrogen bonds in
nature.
6. The main thing about geometric isomers is they
have the same molecular formula yet they have
very different geometric configurations.
