  2. 2. Let us Review Garment construction is not difficult if the cut parts are well-prepared and pinned correctly.

  5. 5. REMEMBER to prepare your garment parts before you proceed to sewing. In order to not to consume so much time finding your garment part, place it near to you, place it under the extension leaf of your sewing machine. Complete also your tools in sewing like scissor or trimmer, thread, Seam ripper,.

  8. 8. 3. Apply the pre-assembling of a blouse such as; a. Prepare the parts / unit of a blouse, and b. Sew / Finish the raw edges 4. Perform the task’s in your activity matrix
  9. 9. One method used today in sewing is the unit method of construction. It makes sewing easier because of the systematic procedure used in the construction.
  10. 10. What do we mean by unit method of construction?
  11. 11. UNIT METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION Is the system of sewing a garment part by part or unit by unit.
  12. 12. In your own words what do you mean by part by part or unit by unit?
  13. 13. ◦A unit is a separate part of a garment. When the cloth is cut, each portion becomes a unit. – The collar is one unit. So are the following: front blouse, back blouse, sleeves.
  14. 14. The unit method of construction has the following advantages;1. Each part of a garment is sew completely before it is attached to the other parts 2. Every piece that you are going to sew is not handled too much so that the cloth does not become too wrinkled.
  15. 15. 3. The needed marks in constructing the blouse are carefully checked. 4.The time consumed in sewing will be shorter.
  16. 16. Pre- assembling Procedure Baste if necessary, then: 1. Sew/ finish the raw edges. Note: If there is an edging machine available, you can do the overedge seam
  17. 17. 2. Sew the Darts Fold the fabric on the wrong side, on the centre line of the dart. Mark stitching line with pins. Stitch darts, starting from the wide portion up to the pointed end. Tie or back stitch to secure the threads.
  18. 18. 3. Joining the shoulder seams The neck and armhole edges should be matched at the seam line. After pinning the edges, ease the back seam to the front seam. Put pins on the center portion of the seam. Sew on the seamline and finish edge with the appropriate seam finish
  19. 19. 4. Join the Side Seam Pin the side or underarm seams together. Be sure to match seam allowances of the front and back blouses. Check to see that the front and back blouses are joined together and not the two front or two back parts
  20. 20. 5. Prepare sew and attached the sleeves In a set-in sleeve, the cap fullness is eased into the armhole of the garment. The sleeve may be long, short, or three-quarter length and finished with or without a cuff.
