1. When water spills over a dam, it injects
bubbles into the pool below, which
may disorient fish, sometimes
injuring them. To deal with this on
the Pend Oreille River, City Light
has commissioned physical and
virtual models of the Boundary
Dam.
Dan Kirschbaum and Kim Pate will explain how these
models are helping SCL plan spillway modifications and
other changes to make our operations comply with water
quality requirements.
