2. HOW EFFECTIVE WAS THE PRE-PRODUCTION WORK
FLOW FOR YOUR PRELIMINARY TASK?
For our preliminary task, I believe me and my group
worked well together and all of us equally contributed to
the production of the preliminary task. Sitting down as a
group and brainstorming ideas and deciding on what to
do was a huge help to the production. Creating a
storyboard after we had created a screenplay was a
huge help also. This helped us to picture what we
wanted our final product to look like. With everything,
there are things that we could have done better. For
example, when we were filming we could have thought
more about the lighting and the camera angles of our
shots. The biggest difficulty with the production of our
preliminary task was the original brainstorming ideas.
3. WHAT TECHNOLOGY WAS USED FOR OUR
PRELIMINARY AND HOW WELL DID THIS GO?
The technology that we used for the filming of a preliminary was
an iPad. The iPad is easy to use and it produces quite good
footage. As well as this, it is quite easy to upload it onto the
iMac’s so we can edit it. As well as the iPad’s having benefits,
the also have disadvantages. The iPad’s cannot be attached
to anything, such as a tripod, so we had to hold the iPad which
could cause unsteady footage and our camera movements
were limited.
4. WHAT DID WE LEARN FROM THE FILMING THAT
WE WILL NEED TO THINK ABOUT IN THE
FUTURE?
The most important thing we could have learned
about filming was the fact that we always need to
film in landscape. This is important because it
makes it look more professional and catches more
of the shot. We also learnt that we will need to be a
lot more steady in the future whilst doing certain
camera shots. Such as panning, the shot will be
very unsteady and look professional. Next time, we
will have to think about what we are using for
filming, if we were using a product other than an
iPad then we could have used a tripod to keep it
steady.
5. WHAT TECHNOLOGY DID WE USE TO EDIT OUR
PRELIMINARY TASK AND HOW WELL DID THIS
GO?
The technology we used to edit our preliminary task is iMovie. In my
opinion, I believe it went fairly well. The first time using it, it takes a
while to get the hang of it. But the more and more you use it, the
better you are at it. We cut the clips and put them into order and
originally we were going to record sound on a different device, but
seeing as the sound wasn’t too bad we decided against it. I believe
this went very well.
6. HOW WELL DOES OUR COMPLETED
PRELIMINARY TASK MEET THE CRITERIA SET
OUT?
In my own opinion, I believe our completed
preliminary task meets the criteria set fairly well.
Our preliminary task includes a character walking
into a room, sitting down, and having a couple of
lines of dialogue with another character. We
included shot/reverse shot a couple of times during
the dialogue.
7. OVERALL, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE
LEARNT DURING THE PROCESS OF COMPLETING
THE PRELIMINARY TASK?
Overall, I believe I have learnt a fair amount during
the process of completing the preliminary task. I
learnt how to use the iMac’s to edit using software
such as iMovie. I learnt different camera shots and
techniques, such as match on action. I learnt that in
filming and counting in for the actors/actresses is a
better way to do it than to go straight away, as you
can edit it out. As well as this, filming a longer shot
is always better than filming it short because you
can easily edit it to how you want it.
