Your Frontal Lobes or . . . the door to wonderland
Two little organs reside inside your brain. They're called amygdalae.
They got this name because they resemble almonds. Scientists like Greek, and that's what amygdala means in Greek.
The amygdala sisters got a bad rap over the years
Scientists said they were responsible for making us frightened or angry.
Some mad scientists got together and discovered ways to manipulate the amygdala to make you scared or angry.
Collectively, they were called behaviorist psychologists.
Not all of them were bad, but those who were, were very, very bad.
One day, a good mad scientist figured out a way to shunt the energy from the amygdala forward, to the frontal lobes.
He called it "brain self-control." This was a good thing, because it put the power back in your hands, where it belongs.
Brain self control is very easy. All you have to do is know it's possible and why you're better off living in your frontal lobes.
In a nutshell • An uncontrolled amygdala sends messages to your reptilian brain. • The reptilian brain is the ego-brain. It's all about me, me, me. • The frontal lobes are where the good stuff is. • Stuff like joy, empathy, creativity and impulse control.
When meditators meditate, their frontal lobes light up like a light bulb
Meditation is good, but you can light up your frontal lobes without having to meditate for years first.
With a little practice, switching from fear to bliss is as easy as flipping a light switch
One minute you're in darkness,
the next, you see the light.
This is an image of the anterior cingulate cortex
Studies have shown that when activated, it can curb depression
It also helps us regulate emotions
This and other regions of the frontal lobes are activated during meditation or when you consciously shift energy to your frontal lobes
It's easy to do
First, locate your amygdalae. There's one on each side of your brain
Now visualise a feather
Use the feather like a magic wand to gently sweep stardust into your frontal lobes
That's all there is to it
