On November 25th, 2014, the film crew filmed scenes 1-11 taking place in the office of Dr. Joseph Damien, which was meant to be located in a hospital. Unable to film in a real hospital, they used a school office instead, carefully selecting props and positioning the room to make it appear like a doctor's office. They dressed Dr. Damien in professional clothes and hung his casual hoodie nearby to represent his dual personality. A nurse wore scrubs to further indicate the medical setting of the office scenes.
2. What shots did we film:
The shots we filmed were in Joseph Damien’s
office which would be located within the hospital
where he works, which where scenes 1-11. We
could not film in the hospital as it would disrupt the
environment, so decided to film within the school
and make sure the mise-en-scene was correct to
not give the wrong setting. We did this by placing
props that would be seen within a doctors office
into the location.
3. Props we used:
A rucksack
Rope
Bible
Scientific posters
Computer with a murder article
Dark hoodie
First aid kit
Science books
Office equipment e.g folders
Crime scene photographs of victim took by Joseph
White lab coat
Crucifix on computer
stethoscope
4. Office scene
As you can see within the office
all school related equipment
was took off the walls. The desk
then only had a computer and
telephone on it which would be
part of our scene where he was
looking at a news article of a
murdered girl. This then allowed
us to put props such as the first
aid kit that you can see in the
photo into the location to give it
a more medical feel.
We were careful of where our office was located as part of this scene would consist
of a nurse walking in, complaining about her weekend and opening the window. This
meant we could not show that the outside location was within the school as it would
disrupt the opening and confuse the audience. This is why we picked an office where
the background was of a bike rack, which they have at the hospital and showed no
part of the school which would be recognised.
5. Costumes:
Doctor Joseph Damien was dressed in a smart
shirt and trousers with a red tie. We were going to
have him wearing a white science lab coat seen on
doctors but thought we would hang the coat up
next to the dark hoodie he owns and would wear in
the casino scene at night. This represents the
contrast in his character showing he has two sides
to his personality and can easily change
characteristics.
Our nurse wore a blue scrub suit which nurses
where within the hospital, showing the audience
the setting that they must be inside the hospital at
the moment.
