ANALYZE THE VIDEO AND BE

SOME QUESTIONS AFTER THE
VIDEO.

The class will be divided into 3. Their
task is to identify the following
pictures shown on the screen. A
representative from their group will
give his/her impression about the
picture and imitate it in the front.
Direction:
Determine the messages conveyed in
each picture. Tell whether the
messages are positive or negative.

Questions:
How can we easily differentiate a positive
message from a negative message?
How did you identify the messages
conveyed in the pictures?
Why do we need to recognize positive and
negative messages conveyed in a text?
DISCUSSION:
Positive messages are messages which
convey good feeling. They tend to consist
of good news. These messages may be a
congratulation, a confirmation, a
direction, an appreciation, an expression
of interest and sympathy. It uses direct
language.

Grade 8 learners!
Negative messages are messages which convey
disappointments, dissatisfaction. They tend to
consist of bad news. These messages may be
letter of disappointment, denial, refusal, job
denial, cancellation, etc. It uses indirect language.

DIFFERENTIATED ACTIVITIES
Direction:
Each group will be given different types of
activities and they will be given 5 minutes to
prepare. After the given time, they will select
5 representatives from their group to
perform their assigned tasks in the front.
Each group performances will be based on a
rubric.
Group 1- Compose a song expressing positive
messages in the lyrics then sing it in front.
Remember to use expressions or signal words
that convey positive or messages.
Group 2- Create a poster that expresses
negative thought.
Group 3- Make a short dialog expressing
negative and positive thoughts. Remember to
use expressions or signal words that convey
positive or negative messages.
LET’S ASSESS
Directions: Read the sentences below. On the space provided,
write positive if the message is good, and negative if the message
is bad. Then, underline the word that signals the positivity or
negativity in the message conveyed. Write your answer on a
separate paper.

You have just learned how to recognize
positive and negative messages, conveyed
either literally or figuratively in a text, from the
sentence to the paragraph level. This time, you
are going to write a reflective essay. Write an
essay with at least three (3) paragraphs on
either Modular Distance Learning or Online
Distance Learning. Write your essay on a
separate sheet of paper.

  • 14. DISCUSSION: Positive messages are messages which convey good feeling. They tend to consist of good news. These messages may be a congratulation, a confirmation, a direction, an appreciation, an expression of interest and sympathy. It uses direct language.
