• ONGC was set up under the
visionary leadership of Pandit
Jawahar Lal Nehru, in 1955
• ONGC has grown to be one of the
largest E&P companies in the
world in terms of reserves and
production
• In 1994, Oil and Natural Gas
Commission was converted in to a
corporation, and in 1997 it was
recognized as one of the
Navratnas by the Government of
India.

• From 1947-1960, During pre-
independence, the AssamOil Company
in the North Eastern and Attock Oil
company in North-Western part of
undivided India were the only oil
companies producing oil in the country.
• In 1955, Government of India decided to
develop the oil and natural gas
resources in the various regions of the
country as part of Public Sector
development.

1961-1990
• Since its inception, ONGC has been instrumental in
transforming the country's limited upstream
sector into a large viable playing field
• ONGC not only found new resources in Assam but
also established new oil province in Gujarat
• ONGC went offshore in early 70's and discovered a
giant oil field in the form of Bombay High, now
known as Mumbai High.
• The most important contribution of ONGC,
however, is its self-reliance and development of
core competence in E&P activities at a globally
competitive level.

• In the year 2002-03, after taking over MRPL from
the A V Birla Group, ONGC diversified into the
downstream sector
.
• ONGC has also entered the global field through its
subsidiary, ONGC Videsh Ltd. (OVL).
• ONGC has made major investments in Vietnam,
Sakhalin, Columbia, Venezuela, Sudan, etc
• its first hydrocarbon overseas revenue from its
investment in Vietnam.

 Clean Himalayas Initiatives :-
• ONGC is among the first company to have undertaken a cleaning
initiative in the high mountain peak of Himalayas.
• In FY- 2018-19, nine cleaning initiatives / expeditions had been
undertaken in partnership with Indian Mountaineering
Foundation (IMF) and teams succeeded in bringing down 130 tons
of garbage for eco-friendly disposal.

 Health Care initiative:-
The hospital is to be completed in three phases at
a cost of Rs 313 Cr is expected to benefit more than
one lakh patients in a year. The services of the first
Phase of the 300 bed hospital has been opened for
public in the first week of March 2019.

 Educational Initiatives:-
• In order to strengthen the nation's educational infrastructure
and advance education, ONGC undertook projects worth INR
1,562.5 million in FY20.
• These projects included the construction of classrooms,
drinking water facilities for students, and school restrooms.
• To improve access to high-quality education, smart
classrooms have also been installed in schools across the
nation.
• The combined efforts of these schools have improved
enrollment and attendance rates for various educational
initiatives in India.

 Skill Development Initiatives:-
• ONGC has implemented skill development initiatives in a
variety of trades across industries like plastic processing,
industrial security guard, retail sales and hospitality,
tailoring, beautician, welding, and repair of electronic
devices, as well as in various regions of the country.
• Numerous such initiatives were carried out by ONGC, who
invested about INR 442.7 million in them in FY'20.

 Women Empowerment:-
• In order to promote women's empowerment, ONGC
carried out a variety of initiatives worth INR 54.7
million in FY'20, with the theme areas of education,
livelihood, and healthcare.
• Women have now had additional alternatives for a
livelihood owing to these CSR activities in the states of
Bihar, Assam, the UT of Jammu & Kashmir, and
Aspirational areas.
 Swachh Bharat Initiatives:-
• ONGC has allocated 33% of its CSR budget the Swachh
Bharat Mission
• ONGC contributed a total of INR 1,963.4 Million to
Swachh Bharat initiatives in FY’20.
• A total of 23,739 individual household latrines (IHHLs)
and 612 school restrooms were constructed as part of
these projects at different project sites around the
country.

TREY research • ONGC was set up under the visionary leadership of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, in 1955 • ONGC has grown to be one of the largest E&P companies in the world in terms of reserves and production • In 1994, Oil and Natural Gas Commission was converted in to a corporation, and in 1997 it was recognized as one of the Navratnas by the Government of India. 4

TREY research 6 • From 1947-1960, During pre- independence, the AssamOil Company in the North Eastern and Attock Oil company in North-Western part of undivided India were the only oil companies producing oil in the country. • In 1955, Government of India decided to develop the oil and natural gas resources in the various regions of the country as part of Public Sector development.

TREY research 1961-1990 • Since its inception, ONGC has been instrumental in transforming the country's limited upstream sector into a large viable playing field • ONGC not only found new resources in Assam but also established new oil province in Gujarat • ONGC went offshore in early 70's and discovered a giant oil field in the form of Bombay High, now known as Mumbai High. • The most important contribution of ONGC, however, is its self-reliance and development of core competence in E&P activities at a globally competitive level. 7

TREY research • In the year 2002-03, after taking over MRPL from the A V Birla Group, ONGC diversified into the downstream sector . • ONGC has also entered the global field through its subsidiary, ONGC Videsh Ltd. (OVL). • ONGC has made major investments in Vietnam, Sakhalin, Columbia, Venezuela, Sudan, etc • its first hydrocarbon overseas revenue from its investment in Vietnam. 9

TREY research MainCSR project  Clean Himalayas Initiatives :- • ONGC is among the first company to have undertaken a cleaning initiative in the high mountain peak of Himalayas. • In FY- 2018-19, nine cleaning initiatives / expeditions had been undertaken in partnership with Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) and teams succeeded in bringing down 130 tons of garbage for eco-friendly disposal. 14  Health Care initiative:- The hospital is to be completed in three phases at a cost of Rs 313 Cr is expected to benefit more than one lakh patients in a year. The services of the first Phase of the 300 bed hospital has been opened for public in the first week of March 2019.

TREY research  Educational Initiatives:- • In order to strengthen the nation's educational infrastructure and advance education, ONGC undertook projects worth INR 1,562.5 million in FY20. • These projects included the construction of classrooms, drinking water facilities for students, and school restrooms. • To improve access to high-quality education, smart classrooms have also been installed in schools across the nation. • The combined efforts of these schools have improved enrollment and attendance rates for various educational initiatives in India. 15  Skill Development Initiatives:- • ONGC has implemented skill development initiatives in a variety of trades across industries like plastic processing, industrial security guard, retail sales and hospitality, tailoring, beautician, welding, and repair of electronic devices, as well as in various regions of the country. • Numerous such initiatives were carried out by ONGC, who invested about INR 442.7 million in them in FY'20.

TREY research 16  Women Empowerment:- • In order to promote women's empowerment, ONGC carried out a variety of initiatives worth INR 54.7 million in FY'20, with the theme areas of education, livelihood, and healthcare. • Women have now had additional alternatives for a livelihood owing to these CSR activities in the states of Bihar, Assam, the UT of Jammu & Kashmir, and Aspirational areas.  Swachh Bharat Initiatives:- • ONGC has allocated 33% of its CSR budget the Swachh Bharat Mission • ONGC contributed a total of INR 1,963.4 Million to Swachh Bharat initiatives in FY’20. • A total of 23,739 individual household latrines (IHHLs) and 612 school restrooms were constructed as part of these projects at different project sites around the country.
