Donald Trump’s Immigration Policies
• US President Donald Trump's presidential campaign was a signature issue of illegal immigration
and his proposed reforms and remarks generated much publicity.
• Kates Law : During Trumps campaign he promised to ask Congress to pass Kate's Law to ensure
that criminal aliens convicted of undocumented reentry receive strong, mandatory minimum
sentences.
• Birthright Citizenship : Trump proposed rolling back birthright citizenship. A historically
broadened interpretation of the Citizenship Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment that all persons
born on U.S. soil are citizens - so as not to grant citizenship to US-born children of undocumented
immigrants (whom he refers to as "anchor babies”.)

Immigration Ban On Middle East
• Trump frequently revised proposals to ban Muslim immigration to the United States in the course
of his presidential campaign.
• President Trump had signed a travel ban on the six countries from the middle east. He imposed a
90 day ban on the middle east.
• The six countries were Libya, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Yemen, and Somalia.

Donald Trump’s Affecting Hispanic Families
• "When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're
not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those
problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I
assume, are good people." – Donald Trump
• “At 15, the undocumented Phoenix teen got a job at Subway, going to school by day and making
sandwiches by night, to pay for the family's rent and food. She kept up this grueling double shift
for three years before she was arrested and charged with felony identity theft for using a fake name
and Social Security number.”
• Whatever their numbers, not all are the "rapists" and violent criminals conjured up by Trump on
the campaign trail. Many people like Mariana, otherwise law-abiding workers whose only crime
was using fake documents that allowed them to work and feed their families.

Building Border Between United States and
Mexico
• Donald Trump stated, “ The wall’s design must be between 18 and 30 feet tall, ‘physically
imposing,’ and prevent the building of tunnels for 6 feet underground, as well as any climbing
efforts, according to federal specs. The portion of the wall that would face the U.S. side of the
border should be ‘aesthetically pleasing in color, anti-climb texture, etc., to be consistent with
general surrounding environment.’The proposal was also to include a wall made of concrete and
another made of other materials.”
• Construction of border wall prototypes is expected to run between $200,000 to $500,000 each.
• President Trump's 2018 budget plan would set aside $1.6 billion on "bricks and mortar" for a
border wall.
• The 2018 budget proposal would set aside another $1 billion for border security more broadly.
Including aircraft, weapons and surveillance technology.

Community Policing (Sanction Cities)
1.Los Angeles
• Los Angeles leaders stood their ground today as President Trump signed an order that essentially withholds
funds from cities that defy his plan to deport at least 3 million people.
• "What we don’t do is ask local police officers to enforce federal immigration laws — and that’s an official
LAPD policy that has been enforced for nearly 40 years. That is for everyone’s good, because trust between
police and the people they serve is absolutely essential to effective law enforcement.“
2. Malibu
• The Malibu City Council voted 3-2 Monday evening to declare the city to be a sanctuary city.
• "It is time to have the courage to show the people that come here and the people who live here and the young
people who go to school here that they will be protected here,“
