La Chaîne de Rôtisseurs Vietnam was established in
2018 with a mission to unite the respected professions
with the purveyors of the hospitality arts from all over
this great Country. August 25th to 28th, 2022 marks the
third Chapitre of la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Vietnam.
With over 25,000 members in 90 countries, la Chaîne
des Rôtisseurs is the world’s most respected hospitality
arts association. Our members share the same values,
and in Vietnam, we also stand for the respect, dignity
and advancement of the food, beverage and hospitality
industries through the preservation of culture and the
development of these industries.

With 8 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area, we have planned four days of
culinary and social events that we believe reflect the excellence of Northern
Vietnam and the beauty of Vietnam as a whole.

Dear Members, Chères Confrères, Chères Consœurs,
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to join us for la Chaîne des Rotisseurs
Bailliage National du Vietnam’s Grand Chapitre in Hanoi.
Vietnam’s capital city is rich in history, the streets of its historical Old Quarter dating
back to the 14th century, numerous tree-lined lanes that pass crumbling colonial
facades and, a feeling in the air that with transport you back in time.
Today’s Hanoi is about much more than in the past. The ancient city is being
invigorated with modern cafes, world-class restaurants, and cool art galleries.
When the sun goes down, there is no dearth of entertainment venues from
sophisticated rooftop bars to the buzzing bia hoi.
As our Chapitre approaches, I look forward to welcoming you all!

6. CURRENCY CONVERSION
The đồng (/dɒŋ/; Vietnamese: [ˀɗɜwŋ͡mo]; sign: ₫; code: VND) has been the
currency of Vietnam since May 3, 1978. Issued by the State Bank of Vietnam, it is
represented by the symbol "₫".
23,400 Vietnamese Dong (VND) converts to approximately one US Dollar (USD).
Only licensed currency converters are allowed to convert foreign currency. Through
strict currency controls and the digi-za-on of money, cash is becoming less and less
commonplace in most transac-ons.
Credit cards are widely accepted throughout Vietnam including in taxis. You may be
required to sign in triplicate as the local banks were previously mandated by law to
keep a copy in their files.

7. VISA ARRANGEMENTS
Members are reminded to have their travel documents and visas arranged well in
advance of this upcoming event. An e-visa can take up to three days to issue.
Attendees holding the following passports do not require a visa to enter:
ASEAN: Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Laos, Indonesia, Japan, South
Korea
Nordic: Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway
European: Germany, France, Spain, Italy, United Kingdom (not including Ireland)

8. VISA ARRANGEMENTS CONT’D

9. VISA ARRANGEMENTS CONT’D
All other nationals not listed in the previous pages are advised to visit a Vietnamese
embassy. We strongly recommend that attendees do not use a visa agent.
Attendees who are travelling on a Skyteam business class ticket to Hanoi are
eligible for fast-track through immigration similar to holders of the APEC ABTC
Business Traveler card. All other travellers can arrange for fast-track through
immigration for a nominal fee.

10. HOTEL ARRANGEMENTS
The bulk of our events will take place at the JW MarrioM Hotel in Hanoi.
We recommend that guests use their elite status to gain access to
addiOonal benefits including the lounge.

11. HEALTH AND SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
Hanoi is a large-bustling city of 8 million residents. As in any large city, it is good to
always stay vigilant against health risks and petty crime. Vietnam has almost no
violent crime but it’s best not to leave wallets on tables or purses and electronics
unguarded.
When walking on the street, it is advisable that mobile telephones and other
electronics remain in your pocket and when in crowded areas such as public
markets, be sure to be consistently aware of your surroundings.
Street food is generally safe but those with weak constitutions should avoid it.
Similarly, not all water coming from taps may be potable. Ice is generally safe to
drink, and all locally produced drinking waters are required by law to be sealed with
a tamper-proof plastic overlay to ensure it is not adulterated.
Please note that Vietnamese nightlife can be extremely loud. To be on the safe side,
it is recommended that you consider wearing earplugs if you plan to enjoy any local
night spots. Please feel free to ask a local Bailliage council member for a disposable
pair in case you do not have any earplugs of your own.

Vinmec Times City International Hospital in Hanoi is the first hospital in the Vinmec
medical system, which is developed and invested by Vingroup – one of Vietnam’s
biggest private groups. The hospital has a capacity of 600 beds, 32 specialties, and 3
specialized and technology support centers with high-quality modern equipment.

13. TRANSPORTATION
Hanoi’s denizens mostly use motorbikes for personal transport keeping traffic
smooth-paced and efficient but extremely loud during the most congested periods.
At all hours of the day, you can expect incessant honking and noise emissions from
cars, motorbikes, and buses.
Noi Bai International Airport is distant from the city center of Hanoi. It can take 35
to 75 minutes to reach your hotel during the peak of rush hour and can cost as
much as 500,000 VND (a stark contrast compared to what it costs to reach your
hotel in Ho Chi Minh City). We do not recommend the use of dedicated prepaid
airport taxis.
There are several taxi transport options in Hanoi. We recommend that you seek to
use distinctive green Mai Linh Taxis as the company has strict policies relating to
the conduct of its drivers as well as decent customer service. As a very last-ditch G7
taxi is also a fair option.
All hotels and fine dining restaurants will have staff on hand to dispatch drivers as
needed. Wait times vary and should not exceed fifteen minutes.

14. COMMUNICATION
Many countries do not have a mobile roaming agreement with Vietnam’s carriers.
Should you need to stay online during your visit, it is recommended that you
acquire a SIM card upon arrival at Noi Bai Interna-onal Airport. We recommend
VinaPhone and MobiFone as the preferred carriers that should give decent trouble-
free internet access while in Vietnam.
The cost of a SIM card should not exceed VND 200,000 (approx. USD $9).
For those who require less rigorous access to the internet, all hotels, cafes and
restaurants in Vietnam offer free internet for their patrons.
