Events of the academic year 2020-2021
The Single window counselling applications for the academic year 2020-2021 were
issued online from 04.12.20 to 10.12.20. The academic year commenced for the second-year
students online on 15.07.20 and first year students offline on 08.03.21.

by Dr. Vinod Kumar Kanvaria, Senior faculty member, University of Delhi on 20.11.20.
Science Association
A guest lecture on “Innovative Perspectives of Science Teaching” was organized on
10.11.20. Dr. I. Arockiaraj, Assistant Professor, PG & Research, Department of Chemistry,
St. Joseph‟s College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappali was the resource person.
History Association
A webinar on “Map reading activity” was conducted by Ms. M. A. Muniammal,
Associate Professor of History, Thiagarajar College of Preceptors, Madurai on 16.10.20.
Commerce Association
A webinar on “Entrepreneurship” was held on 20.11.20. Dr. P. Deivanai, Assistant
Professor, Avinashilingam Institute of Home Science and Higher Education for Women,
Coimbatore acted as resource person.
Consumer Awareness Cell
A lecture on “Consumer Protection in Digital Era- Issues & Challenges” was organized
on 09.11.20. Dr. Bharathi Kannamma, Social Activist, Member of Lok Adalat acted as
resource person.
Red Ribbon Club
An online Induction and AIDS Awareness programme was conducted by Mr. P.
Jeyapandi, District Programme Manager, DAPCS- TANSACS, Collectorate, Madurai on
06.02.21. The Red Ribbon Club of Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai
joined hands in conducting Madurai Zonal Level Training Programme for RRC Programme
Officers of Colleges of Education on 30.03.21. 45 programme officers of various Colleges of
Education affiliated to TNTEU from six districts namely Madurai, Virudunagar, Ramnad,
Dindigul, Sivagangai and Theni participated in the programme. Mr. P. Jeyapandi, District
Programme Manager, DAPCS- TANSACS, Collectorate, Madurai and Ms. Pandialakshmi,
Trainer, NGO were the resource persons.
Women Development Cell
A webinar on “Women Entrepreneurship and Rural Development” was held on 06.11.20.
Ms. P. Jeyalakshmi, Entrepreneur was the resource person.
Eco Club
A webinar on “Bio- Diversity” was organized on 12.11.20. Dr. M. Sivakami, Assistant
Professor (Selection Grade), Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Engineering &
Technology, SRM University, Kattankulathur acted as resource person.

Our Karumuttu Thiagarajar Chettiar Library has a collection of 21594 printed books,
29000 + e books and 6000+ e journals through online data bases. An online faculty
orientation programme on “SAKAI – Learning management Software” was given by Ms.
Wilma Hodges, Director of Training and e- learning, Sakai LMS, United States of America
on 30.07.20.
Alumni Association
Ms. P. Somasundari (2017-2019), PRT Teacher, Army Public School, Nandambakkam,
Chennai shared her experience with student teachers in the “Alumnus Talk Series” on
02.11.20.

Parent – Teachers Association
Parents Teachers Association meeting was held on 15.03.21. 88 parents graced the
occasion and a feedback on the college orientation programme from parents of I B. Ed.
students and feedback on online classes from parents of II B. Ed. students were collected.
Action plans were designed and implemented based on the parent‟s feedback

An Intra Collegiate event Preceptors Fest – 2020 was inaugurated with competitions like

19.11.20. Dr. B. Navaneethan, Director of Physical Education, PSG College of Arts &

Seminars & Workshops
Centre for Capacity Building Programme for School Teachers, Tamil Nadu Teachers
Education University, Chennai collaborated with our college to host a Five-day National
Level Online Workshop on “Techno Emotive Pedagogy” conducted from 06.07.20 to
10.07.20. Prof. N. Panchanatham, Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Teachers Education
University, Chennai delivered the presidential address. Dr. S. Prakash, Principal, Thiagarajar
College of Preceptors, Madurai proposed the felicitation address.

A webinar on “Inclusion and Inclusive Strategies” was organized on 12.07.20 with Ms.
K. Kalyani, Assistant Professor, Department of Post Graduate Studies in Education, Vijaya
Teacher Training College, Bengaluru as resource person. A webinar on “Turning Challenges
into Opportunities through Life Skills Education” was. conducted on 16.07.20. Dr. J.
Jeyachithra, Assistant Professor of Education, Alagappa University College of Education,
School of Education, Alagappa University, Karaikudi acted as the resource person. A
webinar on “Edu Teach Tools for Learning” was organized on 22.07.20 with Dr. Manjula
Nagarajan, Associate Professor, Thiagarajar School of Management , Madurai sharing her
rich knowledge in educational technology.
In collaboration with Annammal College of Education for Women, Tuticorin a National
Level workshop on “Stimulant Online Tools for Collaborative Learning” was conducted on
26.02.21. Mr. K. Thangavel, Assistant Professor of Education, Thiagarajar College of
Preceptors, Madurai acted as the resource person.
Centre for Capacity Building Programme for School Teachers, Tamil Nadu Teachers
Education University, Chennai organized longest virtual seminar on “Role of Teachers
towards Pinnacle of Achievements” in association with 27 Colleges of Education affiliated to
TNTEU from 04.06.2021 to 05.06.2021. Our College participated in the programme sub
titled “Inithu Inithu Katral Inithu” on 04.06.21.. Prof. N. Panchanatham, Vice Chancellor,
TNTEU delivered the inaugural address and Dr. S. Prakash, Principal gave the felicitation
address. Dr. V. Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Professor of Tamil, Ms. J. Selvarani and Mr. K.
Karthick , II B. Ed. student teachers shared their thoughts. Dr. S. Anbalagan, Assistant
Professor of Mathematics proposed the vote of thanks and Mr. S. Raja Kumar, Assistant
Professor of Education coordinated the programme. The College received a certificate from
Assist World Record Research Foundation, Puducherry and the programme was streamed
live in Tamil America Television.

Celebrations
Independence Day was celebrated on 15.08.20. Teacher‟s day was celebrated
enthusiastically with an online lecture on “Perithinum Perithu Kel” by Mr. Karthick Bala,
Writer and Director, Radio City, Madurai on 05.09.20. Staff members paid respects to our
CMD on his Memorial Day on 02.10.20. Saraswathi Pooja was held on 23.10.20. Faculty
enjoyed cooking pongal in teams on 13.01.21. Republic day was celebrated on 26.01.21.
Women‟s Day was celebrated along with Natramil Nallalumai Pulanam organisation . 12
famous women from different disciplines shared their experience in Youtube live
programme. Dr. A. Ponraj, Chief Advisor to Former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
delivered the Presidential address.

Curriculum based activities
Due to pandemic situation, the classes were held in online platform. Orientation
programme on II B. Ed. curriculum was given by Dr. S. Prakash, Principal on 15.07.20.
Applications for I B. Ed. management seats were issued from 21.10.20.The College acted as
District facilitation centre for B. Ed. single window counselling – 2020 online applications
submission and 40 students utilized the services from 04.12.20 t0 12.12.20. The 65th
batch
Inaugural day programme was conducted on 15.03.21. Mr. N. Ramakrishnan, Administrative
Officer delivered an address on the history of the college. Dr. S. Prakash, Principal gave the
inaugural day address. 130 students and 88 parents were present in the programme. The issue
of application for management seats admission for the academic year 2021-2022 commenced
on 09.06.21.
The first year B. Ed. students of the academic year 2020-2021 were exposed to 15 hours
of Online Workshop on “Art & Craft Course” conducted by Ms. Thulasi Kannan, Oviya
Nanmani, Fevicryl Specialist Trainer, Ajantha Arts & Crafts, Madurai from 03.05.21 to
04.06.21. Basic strokes & Sketching, Mask making, Puppet making, Best out of Waste,
Fabric Painting, Glass painting, Kalamkari Painting, Canvas painting ,Bottle Art, Wall
hanging, Colour theory, Paper Craft and Clay modelling sessions were held. Students
prepared the materials and posted the photos in the WhatsApp group created for arts & crafts
classes.
TNTEU Continuation of Provisional Affiliation Inspection
TNTEU Continuation of Provisional Affiliation for the B.Ed. / B.Ed. Additional Intake
programmes Inspection for the academic year 2021-2024 was conducted on 16.04.2021.
Dr. G. Jeyaseelan, Principal, Dr. R. K. Shanmugam College of Education, Indili,
Kallakurichi, Villupuram acted as the convener and Dr. S. Saravana Selvi, Principal,
Meenammal College of Education for Women, T. Kunnathur, Peraiyur, Madurai acted as the
member.
School Internship programme
An online simulated teaching workshop for second year students was held on July 2020.
Second year student teachers attended their 16-week school internship programme in 85
different schools of 16 districts from 30.11.20 to 03.04.21 with the special permission by
TNTEU for students to pursue SIP from the nearest school of their residence. Our faculty
members visited all the schools in a phased manner and gave necessary inputs to the student
teachers.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell
The IQAC of our college functions in planning, guiding and monitoring Quality
Assurance (QA) and Quality Enhancement (QE) activities of the colleges.
A Training programme for teachers of Thiagarajar Nursery and Primary School, Madurai
on conducting online classes was held on 18.08.20. The student teachers videos on teaching
subject were shared with the Headmaster, Thiagarajar Model Higher Secondary School,
Madurai on 21.08.20.
Home Economics Project report was published and released on 17.09.20. The Digital
story telling videos prepared by the student teachers were shared with the Headmistress of
Thiagarajar Nursery and Primary School, Madurai and Sri Visalakchi Achi Nursery &
Primary School, A. Thekkur on 22.09.20.
TCP Imprints Newsletter Vol. 6 & 7 was released on 14.10.20 and 23.02.20.
An ISO Surveillance audit was conducted online on 26.11.20. Mr. Jeyachandran, Auditor,
Bureau Veritas, Chennai & Mr. Karun Sharma, Auditor Witness- National Accreditation
Board for Certificating Bodies (NABCB), New Delhi completed the 10 hours online audit
The TCP Edu Spectra e- journal with ISSN has released its sixth issue on February 2021.
The College has a dynamic website with more than 76000 visitor counts and details
fulfilling NCTE regulations, a very active face book page with 450 posts in this academic
year and 1979 posts overall of the college activities. The college Youtube channel was
updated with 68 videos in this academic year taking the total tally to 103 and has crossed 688
subscribers, 30216 views, 1154 watch hours so far. A new slide share account is started in
the name of TCP library and 486 faculty and student‟s power point presentations were
uploaded.
An Institutional digital repository was created using Fliphtml5 and all the IQAC
publications of our college were updated on the platform. All faculty members registered
their profile in the Vidwan portal for their academic visibility and it was integrated with
Indian Research Information Network System on 28.12.2020.

Extension Activities
Our College is now a recognized Swacchta Action Plan Institution. The Institution has
successfully formed the Swacchta Action Plan Committee and contributed the working
groups post COVID 19 for Sanitation & Hygiene, Waste management, Water management,
Energy management. The certificate was issued by Mahatma Gandhi National Council of
Rural Education, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource &
Development, Government of India. Our College hosted the All India Institute of
Management Association (AIMA) organized CAT/GMAT Entrance Examination on 14.02.21
with 193 candidates and 16.03.21 with 206 candidates.
We thank Punjab National Bank, Madurai for sponsoring an Auto Sanitizer Dispenser to
the College which is currently used by all the students teachers as a part of COVID 19
Standard Operations Procedure. The college published more than 50 e flyers on creating
awareness on COVID 19 among students and public and the flyers were posted in all social
media platforms.

Our faculty members act as resource persons in the “Loyal Shakthi Life Skills Course”
offered to workers of Loyal Textiles , Kovilpatti, Valli Textiles, Sattur and Singampunari &
