Justice is based upon the concept of objective morality.
Justice serves important moral values in the spheres of law and politics.
Justice is the fair treatment of all people with regard to burdens & benefits.

Justice reflects egalitarian society & welfare maximization.

Utilitarian Theory ( John Stuart Mill ) - best outcomes for the
greatest number of people.
Distributive justice - between whom they are to be distributed.

Equity has the goal of providing everyone with the full
range of opportunities and benefits.

Conceptual Overview - Equity
Equity= Fairness and justice.
It is about taking rationale and logical decision.
Equity focuses on individual needs and
requirement. Thus, it is also known as a need-
based approach.
Equity is about giving people what they need.

It focuses on giving more to those who need more and less to
those who need less.
Equity is positive discrimination. It refers to proportional
representation (by race, gender, class etc.) to achieve a fair
outcome.
Equity is the means to reach to equality.

Equity ensures that those people who are behind (socially,
economically, politically, geographically etc.)
Equity focuses and stresses on social justice, racial justice,
social inclusion and social change.
Equity respects individual differences and diversity.
Equity is subjective. It differs from situation to situation and
from person to person.

Equity justifies things on the basis of quality.
It identifies the differences and tries to reduce the gap
between the groups or race.
Equity principle works even if people do not start from the
