• To express interpersonal meanings such
as request, order, offers etc.
• Shall I open a window?
• I’ll break his neck.
17. Usage of shall
• Shall is used when the subject is I/we.
• In American English shall is not normally
used.
• In the cases of interrogative shall can be
used.
Shall I carry your bag?
Shall we go out for a meal?
