PAYING ATTENTION

OBSERVATION LAB

This observation is for one shopping centre with three shops but it was amazing that things were alike.

Before I entered the store:

 I was not drawn in by the store because there was nothing around to catch me attention.
 The door was opened and I felt comfortable entering with ease.
 The sign was simple and written in arial black. The size was about 10inches by 1foot per letter.
 This tells me about how things will be organized in there.

ENVIRONMENT:

 The colour scheme of the store is white with little reds seen everywhere. Red happens to be the
colour scheme actually but since red is a warm colour they made white the dominant colour.
 It is having tiled floor and its reflective surface creates an impression of adding more space to
        the environment.
 The ceiling is about 5ft higher above an average person’s height. It creates some sort of relief
since you feel you have a lot of space to turn around and breath.
 The lighting was fantastic. It is a white light in a white environment making the store more
        spacious.
 The environment isn’t that loud except for the little sounds of people’s steps and interaction.
 There was a background music and fits the environment.
 The store was warm but not disturbing.
 It sparsely because of the enough space.
     Yes it does.
 The cash register is located at my immediate left from the entrance.
 The security is not visible.
 As long as I can I stay in there.
     Yes it does.
PERSONNEL:

 No one contacts you except you call.
 No they don’t have any script to follow.
     Not determinable.
     3:10
 Yes they use the store’s product.
     Yes they do.

PRODUCTS:

     Television set
 There were no central display tables.
 They are displayed around nicely
 By function and by price in the same function.
 No! There isn’t any sample for trial.

OTHER OBSERVATION:

 In the first shop there was someone frying popcorn and the scent has taking hold of the
whole place. To me it was irritating because I hate that smell.

                STORE FOUR
                A stationery shop

Before I entered the store:

 I was not drawn in by the store because there was nothing around to catch me attention.
 The door was opened but the entrance was small that two persons cannot enter at a time.
     There was no sign.
 I was not certain of how thing will be in there.

ENVIRONMENT:

 The colour scheme of the store is blue walls with blue shelves.
 It is having tiled floor.
 The ceiling is about 5ft higher above an average person’s height. But not as comfortable as
        compared the previous stores.
 The store was dark even though it was white bulbs but the colour of the store doesn’t support.
 The place is loud owing to the location.
 There was no background music.
    It has better ventilation.
    It isn’t sparsely.
 The cash register is located next to the exit.
    The security is visible.
 As earlier as I can leave.
    Yes it does.

PERSONNEL:

 No one contacts you except you call.
 No they don’t have any script to follow.
 Yes I guess because one guy was impolite towards me.
 No they don’t use the store’s product.
    No they don’t.
