Volunteers play an important role in promoting hand hygiene at Montfort Hospital. The 320 volunteers receive training on hand hygiene and help enforce hand hygiene practices throughout the hospital. At entrances, volunteers invite visitors to wash hands and ensure hand sanitizer dispensers are filled. On patient units, volunteers set a good example, remind people to wash hands, and help patients wash their hands before meals. Through their efforts, volunteers help improve understanding of hand hygiene, participation by families and visitors, and create a safer environment for all.
