2. 1. Implementation of Performance Enhancement Proxy in TCP
Organization: Aricent.
Description: The TCP PEP is designed to enhance the performance of data transfer
over the high delay, lossy end-to-end TCP connection. The proposed algorithmic and
functional changes to the existing Linux TCP stack implementation have been studied
and simulated for the expected performance figures.The Gn mode TCP PEP resides
between the SGSN and the GGSN . It processes GTP encapsulated TCP traffic and for
this purpose it needs to incorporate the decapsulation/encapsulation logic for the GTP
tunnels for data and signaling.The TCP PEP has been deployed in bridge mode so that no
change is required in network elements outside PEP.
Role:
1. Debugged and fixed several IPC, TCP/IP bugs that helped gaining in depth
understanding of protocol. Added new features to the existing product.
2. Worked as interface between client and Team, upgradation at the client side
3. For testing purpose, worked on GTP based simulators (SGSN and GGSN).
4. Involved in Function and System testing our software product.
5. Installation of Build on client location and testing using IXIA tool.
6. Ramp up of new team members to perform their activity.
7. Build verification of our filter driver using pre specified Microsoft test cases.
