has nothing to do with my "right" to hunt ducks. The framers of our constitution
wanted the citizens to be armed for the purpose of resisting tyranny. They wanted
the citizens to have the ability to form a militia if necessary and the only way to
guarantee that the new government would not become oppressive was to give the
people the right to keep and bear the tools necessary to fight for their freedom if
necessary. If this law is passed it will be outside of their constitutional authority.

It is a clear infringement on my Second Amendment rights. Supporting this
legislature would be unconstitutional. In addition, there is no sound evidence
that banning "assault rifles" reduces gun violence. More effort should be done
to reducing illegal guns getting into the wrong hands. The shooter at Sandy
Hook stole those weapons. The mother was irresponsible for not locking them
up and the shooter was mentally ill. Efforts should be focused on mental
health and being responsible parents and gun owners. The type of gun used in
a crime is irrelevant. The gun did not kill anyone. The shooter is the one that
can kill. The gun is simply an inaminate object and suggesting it causes

It will be ineffective, disarming the law-abiding and leaving them at the mercy
of criminals.
Let me ask this: if all these weapons are banned, will the police be disarmed?
Will officers be required to lock their weapons at the station when they end
their shift? After all, if they take a weapon home, it could be taken by a
disturbed family member. ...

Assault weapon is a politcal term, and not an accurate one. Real assault
weapons, that are not sold to the public have burst fire and automatic modes.
The term is a lie made to mislead the public. A pistol grip or folding stock do
not make an assault weapon.

The problem with mass shootings is not guns but culture. No amount of gun
control legislation, or any legislation for that matter, will stop those who wish
to do others harm. First off the removal of all guns is an impossibility so
therefor legislation to try and control a certain type of gun will have no effect
on violence with guns. It will only further restrict those of us who actually
follow laws not be able to have weapons for our own self defense, just like the
gun free zones only kept law abiding citizens from having guns that could have

This is a slippery slope. I am Jewish. In the last 150 years we have been
disarmed too many times to count, by subsequent gradual measures. It always
ended badly, with far more dead than prior to the disarmament, usually by
thousands and millions.
We have good "gun control"
We have poor media control of nightly gunplay and fear-mongering (are they
inciting?)

I feel it is a knee jerk respose with no real gain unless the goal is to disarm and
hinder law abiding citizens. Criminals do not follow laws so the only people
affected will be those who are honest and law abiding. Enforce the many laws
already on the books, take a serious look at the mental health issue, and focus
on fixing the moral decay that is running rampant in our society... that is what
you should be worried about. Thanks for your time.
