2. This guide will walk you through each
step of applying for your PMP exam on
PMI site.
[Look for a template in coming slides, that makes it
easy for you to prepare the information.]
The only prerequisite to this is that you
must have completed 35hr project
management education.
6. At this point, if you already do not have an account with pmi.org
you will have to create one. If you do have an account, log in.
For the first time you will see ‘Apply for PMP Credential’. Once
started you have 90 days to complete the application. When the
application is in incomplete stage you will see ‘Continue working on
PMP application’ option. Click on it.
7. As you can see in the next slide, there are 3 sections (or
Steps) to be filled.
As a first step though you will fill in Step 1 and submit the
application for PMI’s review. This is what is covered in
here.
Note the 8 sections of information you need to fill in. The
section ‘Requirements’ is where most of the work (and
time) is needed.
Not to worry, I have a template to make your job easier.
Lets move on to first step, to add Contact Address.
12. This is a summary section. Click on PM Experience link to update
information about work experience. Download template from
http://www.pmexamsmartnotes.com/pmp-application-template
13. Click on Add and fill in details from the template (from previous
slide) that you have updated as applicable to your experience..
14. Step Project specific information, from the first worksheet of the
updated spreadsheet template.
15. If you have multiple projects under a single organization, for
subsequent projects you can select from the first drop down list..
16. Make sure you get the right contact details from your manager, and
tell him/her to expect a call from PMI in coming few days. PMI
might choose to talk to manager(s) to ascertain information.
17. Again, fill in this data from the updated template worksheet.
18. Fill in this information from the second worksheet of the template.
Make note of 550 character limit.
19. Provide your 35hr project management training related
information here in the PM Education section.
20. Saved information is shown. Note that you can have multiple
entries (across multiple management education courses) that go
towards fulfillment of 35 hrs.
22. Tell PMI how do you want your name to appear on the certificate.
23. Read and accept the agreement. Make sure you read both
handbook and PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
24. This is the last step. Make sure you download the application and
review the content before hitting ‘Submit Application’ button.
Easier way to make sure the information is accurate and complete.
25. This is what you will see after submitting the application.
26. Now if you go back to the overview section (where you started
from) you will see the note. Wait for PMI to get back to you on
status of your application. You can download pdf format of your
application for reference.
27. That’s all there is to it!
