• Low levels of early grade literacy on
EGRA
• Lack of clear assessment structure and
literacy benchmarks hinder monitoring
and effective teaching.
• Challenge of more accurate and timely
Khmer literacy assessment, and cost of
printing and laminating test papers.

• Develop Khmer literacy app running on
Android devices.
• 31 units aligned with the MoEYS grade
1 and 2 reading textbook and
assessment benchmarks.
• 20 tablets provided to each project
school’s library
• Attractive software engages children
and parents

• Digitize and automate MoEYSapproved literacy assessments
developed under TRAC to make an
assessment app
• Will help minimize teacher error and
address limited teacher capacity.
• Further utilizes tablets already provided
to TRAC pilot schools and increases
teachers’ utilization of ICT
