Neutral colours, beige and
whites for gender neutral
colours. Minimalistic and
simple-helps tone down
colours that might be
overpowering on their
own. Colours like white,
beige and ivory are
considered warm and
inviting. This will inspire
me to use background
colours which don’t
distract from the outfits
and child’s character
coming out from the way I
capture them playing
innocently. Whites and
beiges convey purity and
stands out to mothers of a
child feeling free and
happy. Lighting is bright
and feels naturalistic even
though its shot in a studio.
The colours are pastel and
it looks like a children's
party or nursery with use
of bunting. The bunting
has shapes and pattern on
which has connotations of
children and drawing and
celebration of life, this is
what I will use for the
outfits my models with
wear in my photographs to
covey this same theme.
A big font for the headline, in the
colour red/peach colour symbolising
love and an enduring name for
children, peaches are soft, delicate
and dainty fruit representing babies
and children. The fact it says ‘welcome
to the world’ has a significant link to
birth and a baby being born. The font
itself is delicate and feminine which
links to the photographs of young girls.
There isn't a lot of writing which draws
more attention to the photographs and
outfits.
The clothing that the children are wearing fits with the colour scheme of white, and pastel
colours. The colours like yellow, blue and green have connation's of spring and the outdoors.
The introduction of red and blue colours brings in the theme of gender neutrality. Which all
leads to this idea of new life and being 'welcomed' to the world. This obviously has a direct
link to the masthead. The skirts have flowers on which portrays purity and natural birth and
life. They also are pretty and delicate which comes through from the models wearing them.
Floral designs are a timless print which links and refers to laura ashley who popularised floral
print. The way the models are standing is very innocent and isn't forced, they seem care free
like any child should feel. Neither model is looking directly at the camera, so there is no direct
mode of address. This is most likely because children are not confrontational and don’t feel
the need to be looking at someone unless spoken too. It is a displacement technique which
takes the attention away from the model and draws the audience towards the clothing itself.

The location is outdoors, this symbolizes a naturalistic
outlook and has connotations of a fairy tale as it is set
in the woods like snow white or Hansel and Grettle
which represents children. The fact the child is out
playing outdoors shows they are happy and doing an
every day activity that they enjoy, taking away the
forced side of a photoshoot into something natural.
This also helps take away the focus on the child that
is just modelling clothes, it makes it so you feel the
happiness of the child yourself feeling good in what
they're wearing being able to get on with growing
and learning like every child should. For my location I
want to photograph outside as I think for children
modelling it should be whilst they're doing something
they enjoy, as that’s when modelling clothes looks
best. I want to make it so mothers see a child doing
an every day activity and wanting their child to look
and feel the same. The little girl is smiling and
hugging the flowers, celebrating life and signifying
being new the world.
Big masthead, in lower case to convey a more
gentle and inviting title which is less harsh on
the eye and more subtle. The colour is a bold
electric pink, having strong connotations of
feminity, love and excitement. It links to
motherhood and everything it involves. Pink
helps people get in touch with their caring and
thoughtful side, either through the need to
receive, give or care. I want to include colours
that are more neutral and pastel, however I
like the idea of pink as it does portray
motherhood and love for your
daughter. 'littlies' itself signifies cuteness and
'baby talk'. Its an extended version of little but
is more enduring and its how adults speak to
children which is a common term of how you
refer to children.
The subtitles mention motherhood and
'modern day' which is what I will be
involving in my magazine. The use of
language is very postive and
child linked, there is use
of alliteration and words such as 'spook-
tacular' to make it child friendly and fun.
There is also use of repition of the word
'little' this emphasizes and reminds the
reader that children are pure and young,
and we see them as little and being
welcomed into the world.

The angle of which the child is
standing comes across like they
have naturally turned their heads to smile
or see someone, it doesn't portray itself as
forced or like she was told to stand this way.
The background is a variety of colours
smudged together. This creates a child-like
theme as it is how young children would
paint a picture of draw, the fact it is out of
focus puts more attention onto the photo
and the headlines. The colours come through
as ivorys, greens and turquoise which all link
to the photograph as she is stood in the
woods on a tree trunk. This has connotations
of purity, naturalism, innocence and non-
artificial.
Existing Product
The photograph is a direct mode
of address of a young
baby looking into the
camera with a natural and almost
shocked facial expression.
The fact the baby looks shocked
and seems to be taking a lot
in, highlights the
child's innocence and no
knowledge of its surroundings at
such a young age. The
photograph is clear and in
focus, it doesn’t look edited in
anyway as it most likely doesn’t
need to be with a baby being so
fresh and pure. The background
is green, blue and white
symbolizes all things natural, just
like the child. It also symbolizes
spring and new life, celebrating
being welcome into the world
and any form of birth. the
babies eyes are a deep, navy
blue which has strong connations
of the sky and sea. It is often
associated with depth and
stabilty. This means for the
audience, they will be drawn
towards the babies eyes straight
away and connect with
the child. it symbolizes trust,
loyalty, wisdom, clarity, faith and
heaven. Therefore blue is
considered beneficial to the mind
and body.
The second main color you notice as an
audience is baby pink. This color is the main
association to newborn baby girls,
it references to love, happiness caring and
maternal instincts. The masthead is 'baby' in
big letters in the color baby pink, which
works really well. After doing my research I
know for my magazine I want to use the
color pale pink as I think it works best and
definitely brings out the feelings associated
towards babies. The headline 'going
natural' portrays the main theme and topic
of the magazine, the font is
feminine with 'going' in the color black which
is bold and draws attention, it is an
instruction for the reader. Natural is in the
color baby pink again, but in capital letters
and a stronger font which tells the reader
exactly what they're going to do.
The lighting is very bright, this conveys hope
and clarity for the reader, as well as being
a connection to the headline 'going
natural' as natural light is the most pure
and non artificial. There is links to famous
songs creating humor and fun 'daddy cool'
and 'simply the breast'. For my magazine I
want to create subtitles like this as it is witty
and brings the magazine cover to life. The
baby is wearing quite an old fashioned outfit,
it is pretty and feminine. It is almost doll like,
and this creates an imagery of the child
looking so pure and perfect (which babies
tend to look like)
Existing Product
The photo is of a woman looking directly
into the camera to put across her natural
beauty and perfect skin, therefore it is
direct mode of address. She is very
tanned and sun kissed, the lighting is
orange to portray the sun. Oranges
combines the energy of red and the
happiness of yellow. It is associated with
joy, sunshine and the tropics. It also
represents enthusiasm
and fascination. The way the woman is
looking into the camera is almost
seductive, this makes the reader be
drawn in to the product and creates the
sense of wanting to look like her,
therefore selling the product. It
makes pregnant women want to look like
her, and have her skin. The products
themselves are green and white, which
represents growth, harmony, freshness
and fertility. This is everything
the brand is selling, it is for pregnant
women keeping their skin fresh and
healthy during their 9 months of their
body changing. The bottle is also white
with goodness and purity.
The headline of the article is straight to
the point with a clear and minimalistic
font, this conveys what the product is
selling as it says 'keeping skincare
simply during pregnancy'. This is because
the product is a natural oil, it
isn't artificial and lots of different
products like cleanser, moisturizer,
creams, it really is just keeping it simple.
For my magazine I want to include a
section on women's' skin care and
natural home remedies to keep it fresh
and happy during their time being
pregnant, with easy ways to help when
you're too busy or stressed. I think I will
use colors such as white and green after
doing my research, it seems to fit the
best and portrays what the product itself
does. I also like the way the product has
a bit of pale pink around the label and on
the packaging, as it is a symbol of
motherhood and care.
The article is set out with the photograph
at the top across the page, with only the
top half of the women mainly focusing
on her face and her skin.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have? All the
research products all include very similar use of colours, there is a
lot of greens, ivory's and blues. I found this really interesting as it
has connotations of birth and the celebration of life, which is
obviously associated with babies and children. The use of white is
included a lot which symbolises innocence and purity, as well as
baby pink which I find works really well when associated with the
topic of motherhood- it makes you feel maternal and caring.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your own
production work? In my work, I will definitely include these colours.
From doing my research I have noticed an on going theme with
magazines about children and babies. I want my photographs to be
natural and not forced, as this portrays the child is happy and
carefree doing every day
activities.
Questionnaire Analysis
Audience research
• Observation: I have a higher
percentage of males answer my survey
than female.
• What this says about my audience:
This shows my audience is also
targeted at males, and that my
magazine is gender neutral. I find this
really useful as I wanted to make my
magazine useful for both genders of
parents, not just for mothers.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: my product will appeal to
both male and female as it can help
fathers also prepare throughout
pregnancy, as pregnancy can be a two
way thing for both parents. I wanted to
make pregnancy a stress free
experience for mothers, but the advice
and tips can also be helpful for fathers
who are new to parenthood.
Audience research
• Observation: The age gap of my
recipients was no older than 20
years old.
• What this says about my
audience: This says my
audience are all quite young,
and most likely don't have
children. I could of done with
having an older age category, as
19 isn't the most likely age to
have children.
• How will your product appeal to
this audience: my product may
still appeal to this audience of
16-20, as you are growing older
and may be thinking about
parenting in a few years time.
However, it is definitely more
aimed at 20-25 and 25-30
category, as this is the time you
are planning and having
children and want guidence
through pregnancy.
Audience research
• Observation: none of my recipients have
children.
• What this says about my audience: This
shows my audience are quite young and
don't have children.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: I know that the younger audience
don't have children, therefore I know that
my audience don't need to be young. I can
aim more towards an older audience and
not towards teens or early 20's. I will aim for
an audience that have adapted to their
careers and doing well for themselves,
earning enough money to buy quality
clothing for their children and into the world
of fashion. However, younger parents
probably wont be wanting to spend a lot of
money on their child's clothes and wouldn't
find it necessary to spend so much.
Audience research
• Observation: The age category of 16-20 have
a highest percentage of not reading
magazines.
• What this says about my audience: this
shows my audience are probably more set
on social media and tv, as this is the younger
generation. There is a percentage of 13.04
that answered 'usually'. This shows that this
age group will often read magazines, but it
probably isn't as common as older
generations.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: my product will definitely appeal
to an older audience that enjoy reading
magazines and aren't as attached to their
phones and social media. The magazine will
involve better photographs and articles that
on a bigger scale, rather than looking at it on
your iphone. This shows my audience is
again, not aimed at teens and young adults.
Audience research
• Observation: the highest
percentage of magazine category
is fashion.
• What this says about my
audience: this shows that my
audience do enjoy reading fashion
magazines, and are the most
common. This shows that the
younger generation enjoy reading
about fashions and new in styles.
My audience however would have
to be interested in children's
fashion not just fashion in general.
• How will your product appeal to
this audience: my product will
appeal to an audience of young
adults, who have a keen eye for
fashion and want to pass that on
through their children and make
preparing for their child exciting
and fun. They can explore
different styles for their child,
keeping them comfortable and
happy in quality clothing.
Audience research
• Observation: The majority of my audience
would like to have children in the future, but
do not have any at this present time.
• What this says about my audience: This
shows my audience are most likely not old
enough or ready for children, showing they
are a younger generation that I am aiming
my target audience at. My magazine does
however still target audience that would like
to have children, or are planning to as it is all
about preparing and thinking about your
child's needs and the process of pregnancy.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: my product will appeal to this
audience of wanting to have children in the
future, as it shows they have a keen interest
in babies and kids. It shows they are caring
and are thinking about what it would mean
to bring a child into the world. It also
appeals to them as they can prepare for
their child when the time comes, by reading
my magazine and gathering advice and tips.
Audience research
• Observation: the majority of my
audience would not find a magazine
based on children and babies helpful
or interesting.
• What this says about my audience:
this shows my audience are probably
too young to show an interest in this
topic, and wouldn’t want to think
about having children at this moment
in time. It also shows that the
majority of my audience are male, as
females tend to have more of an
interest around babies as pregnancy
is a long process that involves lots of
preparation.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: the type of audience that
would benefit from my product
would be females, age 25-30 who are
seeking advice for a stress free
pregnancy, with skin care tips and
ways you can keep yourself happy
and healthy for you and your child. I
also want my product to be
something mothers can bond over
and discuss together.
Audience research
• Observation: The highest percentage of my
audience answered yes to finding pregnancy
stressful, whether being a mother of a
father.
• What this says about my audience: seeing as
thought most my recipients were male, this
expands my target audience for fathers as
well as mothers. Showing that pregnancy
and preparing for your baby or when you
have a child, can be stressful at times and
you seek guidance no matter what gender.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: my product will appeal to this
audience by giving easy tips and details on
children's fashion, pregnancy health and
skincare, preparing your child's nursery,
gender neutral baby clothes and much
more. I want this to be useful for males
alongside females.
Audience research
• Observation: there is a 52.17 percentage of
recipients who wouldn't be worried about
choosing clothing for their baby.
• What this says about my audience: because
my audience is mainly male, it shows that
this topic isn't something that they would
find stressful. However, for mothers it may
be different, as making sure your child is
comfortable and the right temperature is
something you need to judge yourself,
because they can't tell you themselves.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: This product would appeal to
mothers that want to plan their child's
nursery and buy the clothes ready for when
they are born. I will give ideas on gender
neutral colours and designs instead of the
stereotypical pink and blues.
Audience research
• Observation: The highest
percentage of my audience would
find it fun to read about the new in
styles for your child to wear.
• What this says about my audience:
this shows my audience enjoy
fashion and have a keen interest in
spending money on quality clothing
for their kids to look and feel their
best.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: this product will appeal to
adults with a good job and steady
income, so they can afford to spend
extra money on luxuries and
exploring new styles for their
children.
Interviews
Interview 1

• Would you find reading about designing their room or preparing their wardrobe of clothes helpful and fun
to read?

Interview 1
• Observation: My recipient doesn't have children yet, but would find
advice and tips useful for preparing for their baby.
• What this says about my audience: This shows my audience are
definitely intrigued about children's fashion and reading a magazine
with photographs of furniture and clothing. The furniture would be
useful for designing a nursery, with elements of interior design.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: my product will
appeal to audience being first time parents as it will provide
features that can make your preparation calming and an exciting
experience, for audience that haven't done this before and are new
to parenting it can be a guidebook for them to follow and bounce
ideas off.

in nice clothes gives off a good impression.
• Do you think children should be wearing the new in styles at such a young age? yes as fashion
is fun and creative.

boys baby blue and girls pinks.
Interview 2
• Observation: my audience are very keen on fashion and how you influence others
judgement of yourself through what you are wearing.
• What this says about my audience: this shows my audience are quite creative and
have a modern interpretation on children's clothing. It shows they want to spend
money on quality clothing for their children, and if they saw other kids having fun
in a nice outfit they could admire it and want to buy it for their own children, like
any other fashion magazines purpose (to sell the product).
• How will your product appeal to this audience: my magazine will definitely appeal
to this recipient as they show a strong passion for first impressions and showing
that looking good makes you feel happy and confident, which is how every parent
wants their child to feel like. I also wanted my magazine to express gender neutral
clothing for children and young babies, as my audience answered associating the
colours blue and pink to the different sexes. I want to introduce colours like ivories,
creams, yellows, beige and pale greens for babies clothing. I think these colours
are better associated with babies as they have connotations of spring, conveying
the celebration of new life and being welcomed into the world. They also have are
very warm and portray the innocence and purity of a new born child.

  • 2. Existing Product Neutral colours, beige and whites for gender neutral colours. Minimalistic and simple-helps tone down colours that might be overpowering on their own. Colours like white, beige and ivory are considered warm and inviting. This will inspire me to use background colours which don’t distract from the outfits and child’s character coming out from the way I capture them playing innocently. Whites and beiges convey purity and stands out to mothers of a child feeling free and happy. Lighting is bright and feels naturalistic even though its shot in a studio. The colours are pastel and it looks like a children's party or nursery with use of bunting. The bunting has shapes and pattern on which has connotations of children and drawing and celebration of life, this is what I will use for the outfits my models with wear in my photographs to covey this same theme. A big font for the headline, in the colour red/peach colour symbolising love and an enduring name for children, peaches are soft, delicate and dainty fruit representing babies and children. The fact it says ‘welcome to the world’ has a significant link to birth and a baby being born. The font itself is delicate and feminine which links to the photographs of young girls. There isn't a lot of writing which draws more attention to the photographs and outfits. The clothing that the children are wearing fits with the colour scheme of white, and pastel colours. The colours like yellow, blue and green have connation's of spring and the outdoors. The introduction of red and blue colours brings in the theme of gender neutrality. Which all leads to this idea of new life and being 'welcomed' to the world. This obviously has a direct link to the masthead. The skirts have flowers on which portrays purity and natural birth and life. They also are pretty and delicate which comes through from the models wearing them. Floral designs are a timless print which links and refers to laura ashley who popularised floral print. The way the models are standing is very innocent and isn't forced, they seem care free like any child should feel. Neither model is looking directly at the camera, so there is no direct mode of address. This is most likely because children are not confrontational and don’t feel the need to be looking at someone unless spoken too. It is a displacement technique which takes the attention away from the model and draws the audience towards the clothing itself.
  • 3. Existing Product The location is outdoors, this symbolizes a naturalistic outlook and has connotations of a fairy tale as it is set in the woods like snow white or Hansel and Grettle which represents children. The fact the child is out playing outdoors shows they are happy and doing an every day activity that they enjoy, taking away the forced side of a photoshoot into something natural. This also helps take away the focus on the child that is just modelling clothes, it makes it so you feel the happiness of the child yourself feeling good in what they're wearing being able to get on with growing and learning like every child should. For my location I want to photograph outside as I think for children modelling it should be whilst they're doing something they enjoy, as that’s when modelling clothes looks best. I want to make it so mothers see a child doing an every day activity and wanting their child to look and feel the same. The little girl is smiling and hugging the flowers, celebrating life and signifying being new the world. Big masthead, in lower case to convey a more gentle and inviting title which is less harsh on the eye and more subtle. The colour is a bold electric pink, having strong connotations of feminity, love and excitement. It links to motherhood and everything it involves. Pink helps people get in touch with their caring and thoughtful side, either through the need to receive, give or care. I want to include colours that are more neutral and pastel, however I like the idea of pink as it does portray motherhood and love for your daughter. 'littlies' itself signifies cuteness and 'baby talk'. Its an extended version of little but is more enduring and its how adults speak to children which is a common term of how you refer to children. The subtitles mention motherhood and 'modern day' which is what I will be involving in my magazine. The use of language is very postive and child linked, there is use of alliteration and words such as 'spook- tacular' to make it child friendly and fun. There is also use of repition of the word 'little' this emphasizes and reminds the reader that children are pure and young, and we see them as little and being welcomed into the world. Click to add text The angle of which the child is standing comes across like they have naturally turned their heads to smile or see someone, it doesn't portray itself as forced or like she was told to stand this way. The background is a variety of colours smudged together. This creates a child-like theme as it is how young children would paint a picture of draw, the fact it is out of focus puts more attention onto the photo and the headlines. The colours come through as ivorys, greens and turquoise which all link to the photograph as she is stood in the woods on a tree trunk. This has connotations of purity, naturalism, innocence and non- artificial.
  • 4. Existing Product The photograph is a direct mode of address of a young baby looking into the camera with a natural and almost shocked facial expression. The fact the baby looks shocked and seems to be taking a lot in, highlights the child's innocence and no knowledge of its surroundings at such a young age. The photograph is clear and in focus, it doesn’t look edited in anyway as it most likely doesn’t need to be with a baby being so fresh and pure. The background is green, blue and white symbolizes all things natural, just like the child. It also symbolizes spring and new life, celebrating being welcome into the world and any form of birth. the babies eyes are a deep, navy blue which has strong connations of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stabilty. This means for the audience, they will be drawn towards the babies eyes straight away and connect with the child. it symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, clarity, faith and heaven. Therefore blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body. The second main color you notice as an audience is baby pink. This color is the main association to newborn baby girls, it references to love, happiness caring and maternal instincts. The masthead is 'baby' in big letters in the color baby pink, which works really well. After doing my research I know for my magazine I want to use the color pale pink as I think it works best and definitely brings out the feelings associated towards babies. The headline 'going natural' portrays the main theme and topic of the magazine, the font is feminine with 'going' in the color black which is bold and draws attention, it is an instruction for the reader. Natural is in the color baby pink again, but in capital letters and a stronger font which tells the reader exactly what they're going to do. The lighting is very bright, this conveys hope and clarity for the reader, as well as being a connection to the headline 'going natural' as natural light is the most pure and non artificial. There is links to famous songs creating humor and fun 'daddy cool' and 'simply the breast'. For my magazine I want to create subtitles like this as it is witty and brings the magazine cover to life. The baby is wearing quite an old fashioned outfit, it is pretty and feminine. It is almost doll like, and this creates an imagery of the child looking so pure and perfect (which babies tend to look like)
  • 5. Existing Product The photo is of a woman looking directly into the camera to put across her natural beauty and perfect skin, therefore it is direct mode of address. She is very tanned and sun kissed, the lighting is orange to portray the sun. Oranges combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine and the tropics. It also represents enthusiasm and fascination. The way the woman is looking into the camera is almost seductive, this makes the reader be drawn in to the product and creates the sense of wanting to look like her, therefore selling the product. It makes pregnant women want to look like her, and have her skin. The products themselves are green and white, which represents growth, harmony, freshness and fertility. This is everything the brand is selling, it is for pregnant women keeping their skin fresh and healthy during their 9 months of their body changing. The bottle is also white with goodness and purity. The headline of the article is straight to the point with a clear and minimalistic font, this conveys what the product is selling as it says 'keeping skincare simply during pregnancy'. This is because the product is a natural oil, it isn't artificial and lots of different products like cleanser, moisturizer, creams, it really is just keeping it simple. For my magazine I want to include a section on women's' skin care and natural home remedies to keep it fresh and happy during their time being pregnant, with easy ways to help when you're too busy or stressed. I think I will use colors such as white and green after doing my research, it seems to fit the best and portrays what the product itself does. I also like the way the product has a bit of pale pink around the label and on the packaging, as it is a symbol of motherhood and care. The article is set out with the photograph at the top across the page, with only the top half of the women mainly focusing on her face and her skin.
  • 6. Research Analysis • What common features do the researched products have? All the research products all include very similar use of colours, there is a lot of greens, ivory's and blues. I found this really interesting as it has connotations of birth and the celebration of life, which is obviously associated with babies and children. The use of white is included a lot which symbolises innocence and purity, as well as baby pink which I find works really well when associated with the topic of motherhood- it makes you feel maternal and caring. • What aspects of the research will you include within your own production work? In my work, I will definitely include these colours. From doing my research I have noticed an on going theme with magazines about children and babies. I want my photographs to be natural and not forced, as this portrays the child is happy and carefree doing every day activities.
  • 8. Audience research • Observation: I have a higher percentage of males answer my survey than female. • What this says about my audience: This shows my audience is also targeted at males, and that my magazine is gender neutral. I find this really useful as I wanted to make my magazine useful for both genders of parents, not just for mothers. • How will your product appeal to this audience: my product will appeal to both male and female as it can help fathers also prepare throughout pregnancy, as pregnancy can be a two way thing for both parents. I wanted to make pregnancy a stress free experience for mothers, but the advice and tips can also be helpful for fathers who are new to parenthood.
  • 9. Audience research • Observation: The age gap of my recipients was no older than 20 years old. • What this says about my audience: This says my audience are all quite young, and most likely don't have children. I could of done with having an older age category, as 19 isn't the most likely age to have children. • How will your product appeal to this audience: my product may still appeal to this audience of 16-20, as you are growing older and may be thinking about parenting in a few years time. However, it is definitely more aimed at 20-25 and 25-30 category, as this is the time you are planning and having children and want guidence through pregnancy.
  • 10. Audience research • Observation: none of my recipients have children. • What this says about my audience: This shows my audience are quite young and don't have children. • How will your product appeal to this audience: I know that the younger audience don't have children, therefore I know that my audience don't need to be young. I can aim more towards an older audience and not towards teens or early 20's. I will aim for an audience that have adapted to their careers and doing well for themselves, earning enough money to buy quality clothing for their children and into the world of fashion. However, younger parents probably wont be wanting to spend a lot of money on their child's clothes and wouldn't find it necessary to spend so much.
  • 11. Audience research • Observation: The age category of 16-20 have a highest percentage of not reading magazines. • What this says about my audience: this shows my audience are probably more set on social media and tv, as this is the younger generation. There is a percentage of 13.04 that answered 'usually'. This shows that this age group will often read magazines, but it probably isn't as common as older generations. • How will your product appeal to this audience: my product will definitely appeal to an older audience that enjoy reading magazines and aren't as attached to their phones and social media. The magazine will involve better photographs and articles that on a bigger scale, rather than looking at it on your iphone. This shows my audience is again, not aimed at teens and young adults.
  • 12. Audience research • Observation: the highest percentage of magazine category is fashion. • What this says about my audience: this shows that my audience do enjoy reading fashion magazines, and are the most common. This shows that the younger generation enjoy reading about fashions and new in styles. My audience however would have to be interested in children's fashion not just fashion in general. • How will your product appeal to this audience: my product will appeal to an audience of young adults, who have a keen eye for fashion and want to pass that on through their children and make preparing for their child exciting and fun. They can explore different styles for their child, keeping them comfortable and happy in quality clothing.
  • 13. Audience research • Observation: The majority of my audience would like to have children in the future, but do not have any at this present time. • What this says about my audience: This shows my audience are most likely not old enough or ready for children, showing they are a younger generation that I am aiming my target audience at. My magazine does however still target audience that would like to have children, or are planning to as it is all about preparing and thinking about your child's needs and the process of pregnancy. • How will your product appeal to this audience: my product will appeal to this audience of wanting to have children in the future, as it shows they have a keen interest in babies and kids. It shows they are caring and are thinking about what it would mean to bring a child into the world. It also appeals to them as they can prepare for their child when the time comes, by reading my magazine and gathering advice and tips.
  • 14. Audience research • Observation: the majority of my audience would not find a magazine based on children and babies helpful or interesting. • What this says about my audience: this shows my audience are probably too young to show an interest in this topic, and wouldn’t want to think about having children at this moment in time. It also shows that the majority of my audience are male, as females tend to have more of an interest around babies as pregnancy is a long process that involves lots of preparation. • How will your product appeal to this audience: the type of audience that would benefit from my product would be females, age 25-30 who are seeking advice for a stress free pregnancy, with skin care tips and ways you can keep yourself happy and healthy for you and your child. I also want my product to be something mothers can bond over and discuss together.
  • 15. Audience research • Observation: The highest percentage of my audience answered yes to finding pregnancy stressful, whether being a mother of a father. • What this says about my audience: seeing as thought most my recipients were male, this expands my target audience for fathers as well as mothers. Showing that pregnancy and preparing for your baby or when you have a child, can be stressful at times and you seek guidance no matter what gender. • How will your product appeal to this audience: my product will appeal to this audience by giving easy tips and details on children's fashion, pregnancy health and skincare, preparing your child's nursery, gender neutral baby clothes and much more. I want this to be useful for males alongside females.
  • 16. Audience research • Observation: there is a 52.17 percentage of recipients who wouldn't be worried about choosing clothing for their baby. • What this says about my audience: because my audience is mainly male, it shows that this topic isn't something that they would find stressful. However, for mothers it may be different, as making sure your child is comfortable and the right temperature is something you need to judge yourself, because they can't tell you themselves. • How will your product appeal to this audience: This product would appeal to mothers that want to plan their child's nursery and buy the clothes ready for when they are born. I will give ideas on gender neutral colours and designs instead of the stereotypical pink and blues.
  • 17. Audience research • Observation: The highest percentage of my audience would find it fun to read about the new in styles for your child to wear. • What this says about my audience: this shows my audience enjoy fashion and have a keen interest in spending money on quality clothing for their kids to look and feel their best. • How will your product appeal to this audience: this product will appeal to adults with a good job and steady income, so they can afford to spend extra money on luxuries and exploring new styles for their children.
  • 19. Interview 1 • If you were having a baby, would you find a magazine with advice and tips helpful? • Yes, because I would probably have no idea what to do. • Would you find reading about designing their room or preparing their wardrobe of clothes helpful and fun to read? • Very helpful, depending on the nature of the child. • Do you think it would make it exciting and something you and your partner could plan together? • If they were interested. • Would you want photos of furniture and clothing and pictures of other babies and children modelling them? • Furniture and clothing. • Do you think preparing for your child should be fun and exciting or a calming and more natural time? • Calming.
  • 20. Interview 1 • Observation: My recipient doesn't have children yet, but would find advice and tips useful for preparing for their baby. • What this says about my audience: This shows my audience are definitely intrigued about children's fashion and reading a magazine with photographs of furniture and clothing. The furniture would be useful for designing a nursery, with elements of interior design. • How will your product appeal to this audience: my product will appeal to audience being first time parents as it will provide features that can make your preparation calming and an exciting experience, for audience that haven't done this before and are new to parenting it can be a guidebook for them to follow and bounce ideas off.
  • 21. Interview 2 • When your child gets older, do you want to dress her/him in suitable and sensible clothing or comfy styles and fashion? yes because it means you look presentable, and dressing your child in nice clothes gives off a good impression. • Do you think children should be wearing the new in styles at such a young age? yes as fashion is fun and creative. • If you saw photographs of other kids in cute outfits and looking happy and care free would you want your child to look the same? if the child looked genuinely like they were enjoying themselves and It was a cute outfit then definitely. • What colours do you associate with children? Pale colours, creams and mainly patterns. For boys baby blue and girls pinks.
  • 22. Interview 2 • Observation: my audience are very keen on fashion and how you influence others judgement of yourself through what you are wearing. • What this says about my audience: this shows my audience are quite creative and have a modern interpretation on children's clothing. It shows they want to spend money on quality clothing for their children, and if they saw other kids having fun in a nice outfit they could admire it and want to buy it for their own children, like any other fashion magazines purpose (to sell the product). • How will your product appeal to this audience: my magazine will definitely appeal to this recipient as they show a strong passion for first impressions and showing that looking good makes you feel happy and confident, which is how every parent wants their child to feel like. I also wanted my magazine to express gender neutral clothing for children and young babies, as my audience answered associating the colours blue and pink to the different sexes. I want to introduce colours like ivories, creams, yellows, beige and pale greens for babies clothing. I think these colours are better associated with babies as they have connotations of spring, conveying the celebration of new life and being welcomed into the world. They also have are very warm and portray the innocence and purity of a new born child.
