The eighth annual ChangeTheWorld Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge will take place from
April 12 to May 24, 2015, in hundreds of communities across Ontario. This six-week campaign
champions volunteering among secondary school students in Ontario.
ChangeTheWorld kicks off during National Volunteer Week when students aged 14 to 18 are
challenged to volunteer a minimum of three hours over the six week campaign period.
Participation in the campaign is open to all secondary school students across the province and
contributes to the 40 community involvement hours required to obtain an Ontario Secondary
School Diploma. Students who participate in the campaign have the opportunity to volunteer with
their friends and to be part of a larger provincial initiative that demonstrates their value and
contributions to Ontario communities.
ChangeTheWorld is delivered through a partnership between the Ministry of Citizenship,
Immigration and International Trade (MCIIT) and the Ontario Volunteer Centre Network (OVCN).
Since 2008, more than 140,200 young people have volunteered over 643,740 hours across Ontario.
Last year, 39,951 youth worked with their schools, local volunteer centres and community
agencies to volunteer 209,659 hours across the province.
If your school is interested in participating in volunteer events during ChangeTheWorld, visit
http://ctw.ovcn.ca. Please share this information with your school principals to make them aware
of the many ChangeTheWorld events taking place in schools and communities across Ontario and
encourage your students to ChangeTheWorld!
Sincerely,
Michael Chan
