OPENDEI Webinar sessions – The role of the Reference Architectures
in data-oriented Digital Platforms
• This session will be run as a “one-way” webinar
• All presentations and the recording of the session will be publicly available
• Each attendee will be muted by default, but you can still make questions
• Please use chat and questions to reach organizers and panelists
• Panelists will try to provide you some quick feedbacks in writing during the event
• We will follow up all the remaining questions on writing afterwards
• We may add an extra 15m QA slot in the end for the most burning questions

“The DEI strategy has to continue to ensure reinforcing the EU's competitiveness in digital technologies so that any industry in
Europe, big or small, wherever situated and in any sector can fully benefit from digital innovations to upgrade its products, improve
its processes and adapt its business models to the digital change”
Mariya Gabriel, former Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society

OPENDEI Webinar sessions – The role of the Reference Architectures
in data-oriented Digital Platforms
• Obj 1: Developing, promoting and validating a cross-industry Reference Architecture
Framework (RAF) to build and operate Digital Platforms supporting DT pathways
• Obj 2: Stimulating Digital Platforms Open Source reference implementations
(FIWARE, OpenIOT, APACHE and others), supporting the adoption of open standards as
well as open APIs interoperability.
• Obj 3: Foster interoperability to create a cross-industry data space based on common
ontologies, data models and datasets
Defining “underlying principles”:
OPENNESS, REUSABILITY, AVOID VENDOR LOCK-IN, SECURITY&PRIVACY
OPEN DEI: Platform Building pillar

OPENDEI Webinar sessions – The role of the Reference Architectures
in data-oriented Digital Platforms
• OPEN DEI aims at building an ecosystem between four domains (manufacturing,
agriculture, energy and healthcare) by capturing synergies, identifying gaps, sharing
best practices, maximize the impact of the results the coming from Innovation Actions
in Digital Transformation (DT) focus area Digital Platforms and Pilots
• OPEN DEI supports the identification of a Reference Architecture Framework based on
common and recognized standards to encourage the creation and spread of Data
Oriented Digital Platforms to the exchange of data with respect for sovereignty and
trust
Ø This webinar will introduce a cross-domain Reference Architecture proposed by FIWARE,
complemented by relevant experiences and lesson learnt by domain-specific experts
providing their own perspective in the four sectors targeted by OPEN DEI

IDSA Standardization:
DIN SPEC 27070 is a successful starting point
• DIN SPEC 27070 was published by DIN in March 2020,
• Translation to English is available by IDSA
• In June 2020 we start a Fast Track program to ISO Standard
• Preferred: ISO/IEC JTC1/SC27 à ISO/IEC 27070 (number may change)
• The Content of the DIN SPEC shall not be changed to make the DIN SPEC
27070 an ISO standard as fast as possible.
• With the DIN SPEC 27070 the first test profile for (parts of) IEC 62443 is
available.
• Based on the DIN SPEC and the following ISO Standard more aspects of the
IDS-RAM can be made a formal standard in future
