COMMISSARY REWARDS CARD NOW AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE: Have you gone to the commissary lately? Did you know that you can now save
more than you already do the next time you go grocery shopping at your local commissary? The new Defense Commissary Agency’s (DeCA)
Commissary Rewards Card is now available at all commissaries worldwide. With this card commissary customers can access digital coupons and
redeem them in any military commissary. Plus, if you pick up your card by October 24, 2012, coupons will be preloaded onto your card to use
immediately. Commissary customers can pick up their cards in-store. After pick up, register your card at DeCA's website and load digital coupons
to your card. When the card is scanned at the register, the coupons are matched to their purchases and automatically deducted from the
balance owed. Customers have the option of printing off a list of their coupons before making the trip to the commissary. New offers will be
posted online every two to three weeks. Digital coupons, just like their paper counterparts, have expiration dates and other terms and
conditions that must be followed for redemption. However, unlike paper coupons, digital coupons cannot be accepted for up to six months after
expiration overseas. That's because these coupons are distributed digitally and are instantly available to all customers worldwide, so overseas
customers don't need extra time to use them. When a coupon expires, it will disappear from the customer's account. Also, DeCA's coupon policy
limits coupons to one per purchase, so these digital coupons cannot be combined with manufacturer coupons, including paper coupons and
military or commissary coupons, for the same item or set of items. Digital couponing is just the first step for the Commissary Rewards Card.
DeCA is partnering with its industry and military resale partners to identify additional rewards for cardholders, such as targeted savings based
on a customer's specific usage, alerting customers to sales promotions available at their local stores, and rewarding consistent shoppers with
specific incentives. For more information about this savings card, visit the Commissary website and choose “Commissary Rewards Card.”

NEW MILITARY ID CARD PROCESS AVAILABLE: Anyone who has ever had to renew a military ID card knows the drill. Between making appointments,
scheduling a mutually agreeable time for sponsors and family members, filling out paperwork and waiting for your name to be called, it can take a fair
amount of time and effort. And if your sponsor is deployed, you should be sure to bring a power of attorney. Well, the process has just become much
easier. The Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) now offers the Real-time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS), a self-service
portal that provides common access card (CAC) holders with online access to apply for ID cards for family members or retirees or to update dependent
statuses. So whether the military sponsor is nearby on the installation or deployed overseas, or if the family member is a college student residing in
another state, the RAPIDS portal provides a way for the service member to validate eligibility without having to be physically present. The process is
simple. The CAC holder can log in to the RAPIDS site and access their family member's information, which the military sponsor can update, if needed.
For an ID card, the CAC holder must complete DD Form 1172-2 and electronically sign it. The family member can then take a printed version Form 1172-
2 to the nearest DMDC office, easily located by using the RAPIDS Site Locator, to get an ID. The service member does not need to accompany the family
member to pick up the card. Also, RAPIDS can provide the CAC holder with a Department of Defense (DoD) self-service username and password, called
a DS Logon, which can provide access to several DoD and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) websites. (Source: Military Community and Family Policy

The new Defense Commissary Agency’s (DeCA) Commissary Rewards Card is now available at all commissaries worldwide. With this card commissary customers can access digital coupons and redeem them in any military commissary. Plus, if you pick up your card by October 24, 2012, coupons will be preloaded onto your card to use immediately. Commissary customers can pick up their cards in-store. After pick up, register your card at DeCA's website and load digital coupons to your card. When the card is scanned at the register, the coupons are matched to their purchases and automatically deducted from the balance owed. Customers have the option of printing off a list of their coupons before making the trip to the commissary. New offers will be posted online every two to three weeks. Digital coupons, just like their paper counterparts, have expiration dates and other terms and conditions that must be followed for redemption. However, unlike paper coupons, digital coupons cannot be accepted for up to six months after expiration overseas. That's because these coupons are distributed digitally and are instantly available to all customers worldwide, so overseas customers don't need extra time to use them. When a coupon expires, it will disappear from the customer's account. Also, DeCA's coupon policy limits coupons to one per purchase, so these digital coupons cannot be combined with manufacturer coupons, including paper coupons and military or commissary coupons, for the same item or set of items. Digital couponing is just the first step for the Commissary Rewards Card. DeCA is partnering with its industry and military resale partners to identify additional rewards for cardholders, such as targeted savings based on a customer's specific usage, alerting customers to sales promotions available at their local stores, and rewarding consistent shoppers with specific incentives. For more information about this savings card, visit the Commissary website and choose “Commissary Rewards Card.” (Source: http://www.commissaries.com/press_room/press_release/2012/DeCA_62_12.cfm) NEW MILITARY ID CARD PROCESS AVAILABLE: Anyone who has ever had to renew a military ID card knows the drill. Between making appointments, scheduling a mutually agreeable time for sponsors and family members, filling out paperwork and waiting for your name to be called, it can take a fair amount of time and effort. And if your sponsor is deployed, you should be sure to bring a power of attorney. Well, the process has just become much easier. The Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) now offers the Real-time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS), a self-service
  • 4. portal that provides common access card (CAC) holders with online access to apply for ID cards for family members or retirees or to update dependent statuses. So whether the military sponsor is nearby on the installation or deployed overseas, or if the family member is a college student residing in another state, the RAPIDS portal provides a way for the service member to validate eligibility without having to be physically present. The process is simple. The CAC holder can log in to the RAPIDS site and access their family member's information, which the military sponsor can update, if needed. For an ID card, the CAC holder must complete DD Form 1172-2 and electronically sign it. The family member can then take a printed version Form 1172- 2 to the nearest DMDC office, easily located by using the RAPIDS Site Locator, to get an ID. The service member does not need to accompany the family member to pick up the card. Also, RAPIDS can provide the CAC holder with a Department of Defense (DoD) self-service username and password, called a DS Logon, which can provide access to several DoD and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) websites.
