Introduction
WMA was transformed into an
Executive Agency in May 2002.
Formerly, it was a department within
the Ministry of
Industry and Trade
The governing legislation for weights
and measures activities is the Weights
and Measures Act Cap 340 [R.E 2002],
but The new Legal Metrology Act is now
being developed

(a) Extend consumer protection to more areas (e.g. prepackages
inspection at ports and some borders, verifying quantities of
imported fuels, etc)
