Learning objectives : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to
a) Demonstrate understanding of a variety of non-linear texts in the form of print
materials using a range of strategies to construct meaning.
b) Understand to non-fiction texts about insects.

- We must love and take care of insects around us.

 Do you know the meaning of this word?
 Can you tell me the different meaning of this
word?
1. Teacher shows a word ‘rock’ on the
screen.
2. Teacher asks the pupils the
meaning of the word shown.
3. Introduce homographs to the

4. Asks the pupils to open their texts
book.

Presentation
(5 minutes) 1. Teacher asks the pupils to read the
texts in the texts book.
2. Teacher also may explain the texts
and some difficult words to the
pupils during the explanations.
3. Then teacher will explain the
homographs and its example.

Practice
(10 minutes)
Finding the meaning of homographs words.
1. Teacher shows a word at the
screen without giving any of its
meaning.
2. Teacher asks the pupils to sits in
group and finds the meanings of
the word by using their dictionary.
3. Teacher will watch and guide them
throughout this step.
4. Teacher will call out random group
to give the meanings of the word.
5. Teacher will discuss the answers
with all remaining pupils.
Material:
1. LCD screen
2. dictionary

Production
(5 minutes)
Answering the worksheet. 1. Teacher spread the worksheet to
the pupils.
2. Teacher explains the worksheet to
the pupils.
3. Teacher monitors and guide pupils
while they are doing the worksheet.
4. Teacher discusses the answer with
the pupils.

(5 minutes) Conclusion 1. Teacher revises on what the pupils
had learnt today.
