Spice Cabinet of your website – a little messy, a little bit hard to find things, but this is where the action is at
This is what the Media Library looks like in WordPress
Stored, like your blog posts, reverse chronological order based on upload date
Show grid or list view
In the LIST VIEW
How to sort different columns and see where an image is used
Being able to filter by media type & date; note: some images that show as “Unattached” may actually be used elsewhere on your site (e.g., in your theme customizer)
This is what your UPLOADS directory looks like
Organized by year/month with lots of different versions of each file saved in it that WP automatically generates when you upload an image
Time to make your website not so bland!
Images are the salt & pepper to your word – making them more savory
Use the MeasureIt addon (for Firefox) or some other tool to determine the width of your content - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/measureit/
TinyJPG.com for compression if you don’t have something like Photoshop or Lightroom
Resize your images to the absolutely max you would ever want to show on your website (e.g., 1600px wide)
Recommend typing your content first (because really, writing content tends to be the hardest part)
TIP: Place your cursor at the beginning of the line where you want your image (regardless of which alignment you ultimately want it to be)
Featured Image vs. adding images to the body of your content
Let’s take it a step further and add some video, audio, and PDFs (and more!)
Embed all kinds of things natively, just by pasting the link directly into the post or page - https://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds
