3. LET US START WITH THE PERINEAL POWERHOUSE:
FACEBOOK
4. Are you over 40 years old?
It is okay if you are; it just means that you have some catching up to do.
• Facebook first launched in 2004 by 19 year old Mark Zuckerburg.
• In 2006 Google and Yahoo had reportedly offered Zuckerburg an astounding
$2B
• Facebook boasts over 1.23 BILLION users every month and has a net worth
near $300B
5. YOU
Largest social network in the world
This platform has so much to offer its users. The butterfly effect is the
first that comes to mind; you invite three friends, they invite three
friends, so on and so forth. What about user analytics? Post
engagement? Paid Advertising? Targeting? Scheduled posting?
Account synchronization?
These are some of the hidden secrets that Facebook wants you to
unlock! If fact…YOU should want them to unlock too!
6. HERE IS HOW POSTING WORKS:
You can schedule post weeks or even months in
advance to help ease your workload.
Boost your post at lease twice a week! Why?
I. Boosting gives you access to more in depth analysis of
engagement, which we will discuss later.
II. It is tax deductible
III. EXPOSURE!
Sit back and be proud
7. POST ENGAGEMENT
Post engagement (or lack thereof) sets the entire
Facebook relationship.
When you post anything as a business, it is
imperative that those that like your page engage in
your post. This can be achieved through a comment,
like, or share.
To Facebook, A page with 1,000 likes and 0% post
engagement is a worthless page and you will not see
your business thrive. (this typically happens when
businesses *purchase* likes in hopes of cheating the
system).
8. USE THE PROVIDED ANALYTICS
Facebook provides business owners with incredible
analysis of their posts (called insights)….FOR FREE.
These stats will show which posts are liked
best/worst, if your members prefer
text/pictures/videos, etc. You can use these stats to
cater to your followers likes, thus increasing
engagement. This targeting encourages engaging
followers to show their friends; this results in more
business.
9. The most popular post 4.3k views and 600 engagements.
We can also see that this happened on a Wednesday.
Duh, make more posts like this one and watch for a trend
every Wednesday. Target accordingly
10. Well, I will not give all of my trade secrets away, but
I will always be willing to help.
In conclusion of this Facebook portion:
o Schedule your posts to ease your daily workload
o Pay a small $5 or $10 a week on a Facebook advertisement to boost your
local visibility.
o Use the free Facebook Insights tool to better build a target audience.
12. I ADMIT THAT TWITTER IS NOT MY FAVORITE, BUT IT
IS EXTREMELY BENEFICIAL TO ANY SOCIAL
MEDIA PROGRAM.
• Twitter launched in 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone, and
Noah Glass.
• Twitter usually stays in the top 10 most visited websites and has more
than 500 million users.
• Twitter is now worth around 30 Billion.
13. WHY TWITTER IS AN OBVIOUS CHOICE
The sole purpose of Twitter, for a business, is web
presence.
I personally would not go to Twitter first for
information about a business, but knowing they
have one is attractive as a customer.
If you are running a Facebook page, then you can
run Twitter with ZERO extra effort.
14. My favorite Twitter feature is the free account synchronization with Facebook.
What this allows a business to do is post simultaneously to both platforms from
just Facebook. With this feature, you will never worry about using more than
140 characters.
This sync allows a business to schedule their post on Facebook, weeks in
advance, and seeing those same posts show up on Twitter.
It is also fairly simple to gain followers on Twitter, sometimes even 100 per day.
My advice would be to follow everyone! You will organically see your followers
catch up, almost like a quid pro quo situation. You follow me and I will follow
you. You can unfollow undesirables after you reach group of followers that you
like.
15. IN TANTALIZING TWITTER CONCLUSION
Use Twitter because it raises awareness and takes
no effort
Sync your Twitter and Facebook
17. A DIFFERENT KIND OF SOCIAL NETWORK
Launched in 2003 by Reid Hoffman and his
associates, Linkedin started as a small
professionals network and grew steadily to a
network of around 400 million users.
Linkedin bring in over 2.21 Billion dollars in annual
revenue.
18. HAVEN'T HEARD OF LINKEDIN? HERE IS WHAT
IT IS:
A massive social network that meshes
professionals (both young and old), businesses,
staffing agencies, waiters, and everyone else. Think
Monster.com and Facebook had a baby.
As a business you can search the talent pool, write
articles pertaining to your field, spy on the
competition, and attract a different crowd of
intellectuals that may not be huge conventional
social media people.
19. There are so many amazing things to say about this up and coming social media
giant. Users (44 years old on average) can endorse other users and businesses,
which is GREAT for your business.
A great fact is that nearly 50% of ALL users on Linkedin pay for their accounts.
These paid accounts are typically $50 a month which forces the user to become
that much more invested in the content.
Upkeep is very similar to that of Facebook, but you can not schedule posts like
you would on Facebook. This may cause a bit more work, however, it is well worth
it.
Not to mention, 27 MILLION other businesses around the world already have a
Linkedin page. Time to join and reap those benefits.
20. USE THIS SITE AND YOU’LL BE
“PINNING” IN NO TIME:
PINTEREST
21. SOCIAL NETWORK….BUT NOT REALLY?
Pinterest is a free image sharing website that can
double as a store, showroom, interest board, and
so much more.
Pinterest was not released until 2011, however it
has grown into a HUGE business for retailers and
consumers alike.
You can even get a "pin it" button that can be added
to the bookmark bar of a web browser for easy
additions to boards!
22. I sometimes get confused when I try to decide it Pinterest is or is not a social
media website. On one hand we have consumers and the other we have retailers,
but do they socialize? No not really.
I think the greatest thing that Pinterest brings to the table is content. Adding a
to your website may help your business gain popularity. Adding it to your
Facebook page gives you an awesome inventory option that you otherwise would
not have had.
Getting started on Pinterest only takes a few moments, but building your boards
may take a little longer. I would recommend taking an hour or two to find the right
content and building a board after set up.
23. Great use of
content
Here is an example of a brand new Columbus car dealer that just started using
Pinterest. They have chosen to keep the content relevant and useful.
24. Users can see the same inventory as they can on a website, but may
have a little bit more fun this way.
25. The Grand Conclusion
Guys, it is the 21st century. We have robotic arms, I can video chat with people
all over the world, we can see the far ends of the galaxy, we are performing
miracles. Social media marketing is the newest, least expensive, and one of the
most effective ways for a company or business to brand themselves; not only in
their community, but even nationwide.
I am still, and will always be, a proponent of print media and digital media. There
is still a place for those giants, but what I want to see is social media marketing
getting a larger piece of the proverbial pie.
26. A LITTLE ABOUT ME
Born in Florida, but raised in Bexley, OH.
I have held a few jobs ranging from education, to
automotive marketing, to B2B sales, to marketing
management.
I currently reside in Columbus, OH and I work for a
Print Media firm as manager of social/digital media.
