Introduction
Technology has expanded a lot over the past years. In 2017 we’ve seen
viral videos of gadgets that had come out, all the way to the very popular
devices that everyone wants to get their hands on.
For example, this year Apple had launched three brand new updated
products. Which were the new MacBook and the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
Another example of a smaller product that has become very popular,
would be a fidget spinner, this year it became viral but it was designed in
2014. It was mainly intended for people with ADHD, yet people wanted to
get their hands on it because it was the “next big thing” that happened to
go viral.
What is Technology?
Technology can be defined in many different ways. It can be described as
a vehicle, that helps you get from place to place, to a television that gives
you the ability to watch the news, to know whats going on around the
world.
To make this a little more interesting it could even be described as a
dishwasher, to help you get the job done quicker then washing them by
hand.
Technology is something that was designed to help us in a more efficient
and reliable way, and it was also designed to help make humans lives
easier.
Instagram
Instagram is a social network were you can share pictures and short
edited videos, use tags to get noticed, follow people, like and comment
on pictures, and the recent update now allows you to live stream.
Snapchat
Snapchat is an app that allows you to add friends and share current live
updates on what you are doing. You can share pictures, or short videos
that will be viewable for approximately 24 hours, before being deleted
permanently.
Top Search Engines
Google is currently the worlds top search engine.

YouTube is an entertainment website were you can share
videos, rate, like, subscribe and most importantly be yourself.
You can search for anything on YouTube from things such as:
makeup tutorials, music covers, people who record their daily
lives, and other things like cooking channels.
Youtube was founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and
Jawed Karen. It was founded on February 14, 2005. YouTube
is currently owned by Alphabet Inc, the parent company of
Google.
YouTube’s Success
Many people talk about their success on YouTube and how it's changed
their lives. YouTube user’s can make revenue through their subscribers
and monetization on their videos.
Monetization allows advertisements to play throughout or at the
beginning and end of each video. Depending on the amount of views you
get, and subscribers you have, you can also make some revenue from that
as well.
YouTube Ad’s
YouTube has been well known for playing ad’s throughout videos. Some
may find it annoying and an inconvenience, waiting until the ad is over or
until it allows you to skip the ad after 5 seconds.
Thankfully, someone has created a technology called AdBlock. AdBlock
allows you to download directly into your extensions through your
computer, to block all ad’s from YouTube videos and even ad’s from other
websites.
Ad Blockers
Ad blockers can be pretty useful if your constantly online, and you find
that you are on websites that have lots of advertisements.
Sometimes ad pop ups can cause viruses, even if you don’t click on the
ad itself. I find ad blockers to be very useful to prevent viruses from
happening.
AdBlock was created by Michael Gundlach.
Privacy and Smartphone Apps:What data your
phone may be giving away.

This video is to show how easy it is to get information from apps on your phone. When you
download an app, there is always some sort of agreement that you must accept in order to use the
app.
Once you accept the app terms and conditions on certain apps, you give them the ability to take
much of what you consider private information from you.
Privacy and Smartphone Apps: Continued
They can check your call logs, text messages, even turn on your microphone and take pictures
from your camera without you even knowing.
There can be good and bad things that come from this. The bad that can come out of this, is
companies that make these apps can easily steal your identity and information from you. The
good that can come from this is, companies that take information can make a better experience
for users to improve their app.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we all use social media sites, wether it’s YouTube, Snapchat,
Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.
What we don’t realize is, when we put information into these sites they
gather your information to find out what your likes and dislikes are.
They can create a profile on you and use your information to sell to
companies that advertise to people in the target audience they are after.
