2. RECENT HAPPENINGS
“Scotch 101” - SCPS Alumni Hosts @ Torch Club
On March 23rd, both the NYU SCPS Alumni and NYU Schack Alumni Association co-hosted the SCOTCH 101 Tastings
Event. This Single Malt Scotch Symposium allowed alums to gather for good spirits, both in the bottle and in the air!
Everyone had a marvelous time learning about the three special reserves, lifting a glass to toast and taste and learn
about some smashing good whisky that our Spirits Specialist had selected, including: Bruichladdich, a 12yr old;
Glendronach, a 12yr old; and Benriach, a 10yr old 'Curiositas'. The Spirit Specialist, Karl duHoffmann, has a long-
term sideline interest in handmade spirits, which led to studies in distilling and a career change with a position as the
spirit specialist for Winebow, Inc, an importer and distributor of some of the finest spirits from around the world.
Clockwise from upper left corner: Chris Caltabiano (‘07); AJ Hernandez (’04) & Emily Astrof (’05); Chris Pulling (’06)
& Matthew Weir (’06); Max Nipon, Daniel Matz (‘08), & Daniel Margolis.
