Healthy Food vs. Fast Food
Many years ago, people ate food that does not contain
preservatives. Moreover, people used to spend a lot of time cooking their
own food. Therefore, those people did not have problems by the food that
they ate, because all the food that they ate was natural and healthy.
However, nowadays many people, particularly young people prefer to eat
fast food such as hamburger, pizza or fried chicken. Healthy and fast food
are two types of food that have many similarities and differences.
(The sentence in light blue is the thesis statement)
Body Paragraph
Provide details discussing the similarities and differences about the two subjects.
(Topic sentence + supporting details)
Both fast food and healthy food are delicious. There is a large variety in
foods, for example you can imagine a hamburger or salad fruits both are delicious.
While fast food and healthy food can both be appealing, the healthiest way to eat is
by preparing our own food. Fast and healthy food differ in their convenience and
their effect on health. Fast food is more convenient than healthy food. Many people
in our country work for long hours, for that reason, they do not have time to find
ingredients or prepare good food, so fast food becomes a good alternative
because fast food is quicker to prepare or purchase than healthy food. Healthy
food is nutrient-rich, but fast food tends to be nutrient-poor even it is high in
calories. It is important to know that fast food can fulfill our daily caloric needs;
nevertheless, it exceed with ingredients that are harmful to our health. For
example, fast food is high in saturated fats and trans fats, also it has preservatives,
chemicals, artificial colors and flavors. Fast food affects our health and causes
dangerous diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure. On the other
hand, healthy food preserves and protects our body from diseases, because it
contains vitamins proteins and minerals.
(The sentences in light blue are topic sentences)
Conclusion
Summarize the essay
Restate the thesis statement
In conclusion, both fast food and healthy food have
their pros and cons, so we have to choose the best option
and it should be said that eating healthier is a life style and
an intelligent choice.

PERSUASIVE ESSAY
Persuasive writing is writing that tries to convince a reader to do
something or to believe what you believe about a certain topic.
Introduction
Introduce your topic
Thesis Statement
A lot of people don’t like audio books. The thought of
enjoying a cup of cocoa, sitting and holding a new book in
their hands is such a wonderful experience. I’ve heard people
say audio books are “not real reading.” I agree that audio
books are not the same experience, but to suggest that they
are less valuable annoys me. I believe audio books are a
worthwhile and meaningful reading experience.
Body:
Explain your argument.
Support your ideas with facts and examples
The main advantage with audio books is the gift of time. Audio
books are the multi-tasker’s dream. Often I am unable to take the time to
sit down and read. Audio books make it possible to read while doing
almost anything. While completing household chores, knitting, or
exercising on the treadmill, I can listen to a good book. I can even ‘read’
with my eyes closed! I can fit in a wonderful time of peace and
enjoyment at any time of the day. Hearing the words pour musically from
a disc is just as thrilling as reading the text. Audio books offer the
advantage of being able to experience the rhythm and the tempo of the
language. I especially enjoy listening to poetry. When reading Harry
Potter and Because of Winn Dixie, the dialogue fascinated me. I felt I
was able to enjoy the proper pronunciation of an unfamiliar word, and
this increased my understanding and pleasure. One loving memory of
our family vacations is listening to a book together as we traveled
across the highway. We were all sobbing together at the end of Where
the Red Fern Grows. Listening to authors read their own books is
another special experience. It feels like a conversation with a cherished
old friend.
Conclusion
Summarize the main points
Yes, the smell and feel of a new book will always
capture me. But, I’ve grown to like audio books over the last
few years. Both are enjoyable and valuable opportunities for
adventure! Readers, I encourage you to try an audio book
and please, never reject it as not ‘real reading’!

  • 12. Audio Books A lot of people don’t like audio books. The thought of enjoying a cup of cocoa, sitting and holding a new book in their hands is such a wonderful experience. I’ve heard people say audio books are “not real reading.” I agree that audio books are not the same experience, but to suggest that they are less valuable annoys me. I believe audio books are a worthwhile and meaningful reading experience. The main advantage with audio books is the gift of time. Audio books are the multi-tasker’s dream. Often I am unable to take the time to sit down and read. Audio books make it possible to read while doing almost anything. While completing household chores, knitting, or exercising on the treadmill, I can listen to a good book. I can even ‘read’ with my eyes closed! I can fit in a wonderful time of peace and enjoyment at any time of the day. Hearing the words pour musically from a disc is just as thrilling as reading the text. Audio books offer the advantage of being able to experience the rhythm and the tempo of the language. I especially enjoy listening to poetry. When reading Harry Potter and Because of Winn Dixie, the dialogue fascinated me. I felt I was able to enjoy the proper pronunciation of an unfamiliar word, and this increased my understanding and pleasure. One loving memory of our family vacations is listening to a book together as we traveled across the highway. We were all sobbing together at the end of Where the Red Fern Grows. Listening to authors read their own books is another special experience. It feels like a conversation with a cherished old friend. Yes, the smell and feel of a new book will always capture me. But, I’ve grown to like audio books over the last few years. Both are enjoyable and valuable opportunities for adventure! Readers, I encourage you to try an audio book and please, never reject it as not ‘real reading’!
