• Used to terminate arterial flutter and paroxysmal atrial
tachycardia and act as temporary pacemaker for atrial
fibrillation.
• The atria activity is picked up by a sensing electrode.
• The detected P wave is amplified and a delay of 0.12sec is
provided by the AV delay circuit.
• This signal is used to trigger resettable multivbrator & the
output is given to the amplifier which produces the stimulus
to the heart.

9. If the rate of atrial excitation is too fast or slow or absent
Fixed rate pace maker (resettable multivibrator) takes action.
Refractory Period Control circuit will eliminate the problem.
It will ignore any signal detected from atrial lead within 400
milliseconds.
