INTRODUCTION
• Swami Vivekananda, A great teacher philosopher and practical saint of modern India. He
wanted to revive the ancient Vedic wisdom and re-establishing the glorious tradition of
great India. He was one of the philosopher who revolted against British system of
education which was imposed by British Government on Indian Citizen. He criticize such
education on the ground that it is not related to India's culture and India's socio-economic
condition. He is the first great personality who realised the important of women in
national development and raise voice in the favour of women education.
LIFE OF SWAMI VIVEKANANDA
• Swami Vivekananda a great teacher and practical saint in modern India. He was born on 12th January,1863
in Kolkata in a Bengali kshatriya family. His real name is Narendra Nath Dutta. His father Vishwanath
Dutta was a famous lawyer in Kolkata High Court and his mother Bhuvaneshwari Devi was a pious lady.
The home atmosphere was indeed religious. At the age of 16 he passed matriculation examination and
join presidency college. The principal of his college Mr. Heasty once remarked Narendra Nath Dutta is
really a genius. Mr. Heasty introduced Narendra Nath to the famous spiritual leader Shri Ramakrishna
Paramhamsa. After Shri Ramakrishna’s death, Swami Vivekananda established Ramakrishna Mission. He
gained international attention at the parliament of Religions help in Chicago in 1893. he left us with
sorrow on July 4th 1902 at the age of 39.
BASIC PRINCIPLE OF EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Swami Vivekananda has been a great educationist of the world. His basic principles of educational philosophy are
explaining below
1. All knowledge is in the human mind. He has to uncover and develop it by his own efforts.
2. Religious education should be imparted through sweet impressions and the fine conduct of the teacher not
through books.
3. Concentration is the key to all knowledge for which the practice of Brahmacharya is necessary.
4. Purity of thoughts, speech and deed is self discipline, developed through meditation and concentration.
5. The infinite library of the universe is in our minds
BASIC PRINCIPLE OF EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
1. Education should developed child physically, mentally and spiritually.
2. Teacher should to be a friend, philosopher and guide. He should bring out the latent knowledge of child by inspiration
and motivation.
3. Human development is possible only through service and sacrifice. It is essential for achieving peace and prosperity in
the society.
4. Education should develop character, mental power, intelligence and inculcate self confidence together with self
reliance in the taught.
5. Boys and girls should be given the same type of education.

MAN MAKING EDUCATION
Swami Vivekananda saw the ‘Divine’ in the poor whom he called Daridra Narayan. His
vision denotes the direction of ‘Man-making’ education, that it is education, which should
foster a spirit of services.
ELEMENT OF MAN MAKING EDUCATION
1. Every individual should understand that the ultimate goal of human life is to attain Unity
with the Creator.
2. Service to man is equated with devotion to God because God resides in every human
heart. Hence man should foster the spirit of service to his fellow beings.
3. Man should develop an attitude of respect for all religions. He should understand that the
essential elements of all religions are the same and no religion is superior or inferior to
other religion.
AIMS OF MAN MAKING EDUCATION
1. Character development.
2. Develop the spirit of social service in man.
3. Mental development.
4. Rational development.
METHOD OF INSTRUCTION IN MAN MAKING EDUCATION
1. The child educate himself and all knowledge is within him. So a teacher has to help the
child to apply his intellects for the proper utilization of his organs and senses.
2. The method of teaching should be modified according to the needs and interests of the
taught.
3. The learner or the taught must have great power of endurance.
4. The learner should be able to control the internal and external senses.
5. The pupil should inculcate the attitude of respecting the ‘Guru’ or the teacher.
6. The learner should have faith in himself. It enables him to imbibe knowledge
effectively.

  • 2. INTRODUCTION • Swami Vivekananda, A great teacher philosopher and practical saint of modern India. He wanted to revive the ancient Vedic wisdom and re-establishing the glorious tradition of great India. He was one of the philosopher who revolted against British system of education which was imposed by British Government on Indian Citizen. He criticize such education on the ground that it is not related to India's culture and India's socio-economic condition. He is the first great personality who realised the important of women in national development and raise voice in the favour of women education.
  • 3. LIFE OF SWAMI VIVEKANANDA • Swami Vivekananda a great teacher and practical saint in modern India. He was born on 12th January,1863 in Kolkata in a Bengali kshatriya family. His real name is Narendra Nath Dutta. His father Vishwanath Dutta was a famous lawyer in Kolkata High Court and his mother Bhuvaneshwari Devi was a pious lady. The home atmosphere was indeed religious. At the age of 16 he passed matriculation examination and join presidency college. The principal of his college Mr. Heasty once remarked Narendra Nath Dutta is really a genius. Mr. Heasty introduced Narendra Nath to the famous spiritual leader Shri Ramakrishna Paramhamsa. After Shri Ramakrishna’s death, Swami Vivekananda established Ramakrishna Mission. He gained international attention at the parliament of Religions help in Chicago in 1893. he left us with sorrow on July 4th 1902 at the age of 39.
  • 4. BASIC PRINCIPLE OF EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY Swami Vivekananda has been a great educationist of the world. His basic principles of educational philosophy are explaining below 1. All knowledge is in the human mind. He has to uncover and develop it by his own efforts. 2. Religious education should be imparted through sweet impressions and the fine conduct of the teacher not through books. 3. Concentration is the key to all knowledge for which the practice of Brahmacharya is necessary. 4. Purity of thoughts, speech and deed is self discipline, developed through meditation and concentration. 5. The infinite library of the universe is in our minds
  • 5. BASIC PRINCIPLE OF EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY 1. Education should developed child physically, mentally and spiritually. 2. Teacher should to be a friend, philosopher and guide. He should bring out the latent knowledge of child by inspiration and motivation. 3. Human development is possible only through service and sacrifice. It is essential for achieving peace and prosperity in the society. 4. Education should develop character, mental power, intelligence and inculcate self confidence together with self reliance in the taught. 5. Boys and girls should be given the same type of education.

  • 13. MAN MAKING EDUCATION Swami Vivekananda saw the ‘Divine’ in the poor whom he called Daridra Narayan. His vision denotes the direction of ‘Man-making’ education, that it is education, which should foster a spirit of services.
  • 14. ELEMENT OF MAN MAKING EDUCATION 1. Every individual should understand that the ultimate goal of human life is to attain Unity with the Creator. 2. Service to man is equated with devotion to God because God resides in every human heart. Hence man should foster the spirit of service to his fellow beings. 3. Man should develop an attitude of respect for all religions. He should understand that the essential elements of all religions are the same and no religion is superior or inferior to other religion.
  • 15. AIMS OF MAN MAKING EDUCATION 1. Character development. 2. Develop the spirit of social service in man. 3. Mental development. 4. Rational development.
  • 16. METHOD OF INSTRUCTION IN MAN MAKING EDUCATION 1. The child educate himself and all knowledge is within him. So a teacher has to help the child to apply his intellects for the proper utilization of his organs and senses. 2. The method of teaching should be modified according to the needs and interests of the taught. 3. The learner or the taught must have great power of endurance. 4. The learner should be able to control the internal and external senses. 5. The pupil should inculcate the attitude of respecting the ‘Guru’ or the teacher. 6. The learner should have faith in himself. It enables him to imbibe knowledge effectively.
