PLANNING
TALENT
 The main star in my trailer is Hatsie Moon, she is
a 17 year old dancer who takes 8 classes a week
at Amanda Restells Academy of Dance including
ballet, tap, commercial, modern and musical
theatre. I feel as though she will be a strong
addition to my production because she is
confident, talented and hard-working/committed.
Jess Dyer is also 17 years old
who dances 3 times a week and
is Hatsie’s best friend. I will be
using her for interviews as she
can give inside information about
Hatsie.
LOCATIONS
 As it is a trailer, a large variety of locations are required as it
is meant to show lots of different scenes from the whole
film. This is what sets it apart from a normal documentary as
it’s not just a sequence.
 I will be filming in two dance studios that I have easy access
to, my local town, London, the Royal Ballet and Hatsie’s
home
Theory
 This is used to represent the main star and portray her in a certain
way such as commodity, construction or ideology which is the theory
of Richard Dyer
 Ideology – Hatsie will represent young dancers who do not typically
live an ordinary life like most teenagers do as they have long hours or
training and regimented diets/workout plans. The target audience is
therefore going to be dancers or aspiring dancers (their social group)
who can take influence from the trailer and copy her lifestyle
 Paradox – The star needs to be ordinary to allow the audience to
relate to the film but posses extraordinary talent which will make
them be idolized by the general public
Narrative
 Todorov – suggested that stories begin with an equilibrium/status quo where any
potentially opposing forces are in balance. This is disrupted, setting in chain a series
of events. Problems are overcome so order can be restored
 My trailer – By following Todorovs theory, I planned out the whole film first then picked
out the best bits in order to have a complete plan for my trailer
 E.g. – Equilibrium  she’s starting to train at the Royal Ballet
Disruption  she falls & is told she won’t make it professionally
Recognition  set goals to resolve this, e.g. back in the studio
Restoration  realizes it’s not all about winning trophies
Conclusion  encourages friends & young generation to dance
TECHNOLOGY
 Pre production: storyboards/shot list etc
 Production: Go Pro Hero, iPhone 6S & DJI Spark Drone
 Post-production: iMovie & Adobe After Effects
 Distribution & Exhibition: Vimeo/YouTube & Blogger
