To whom it concerns,
This is in regard to the ongoing harassment I have personally experienced from Mr. Gary Wilson. Due to his
persistent harassment and continuously publishing false and misleading information about me, my family and I
have had to take protective measures by relocating and changing jobs. Over the last two years, Mr. Wilson has
written hundreds of pages of defamatory accusations of my character, as well as misrepresenting interactions
we have had, to his tens of thousands of followers. His claims and defamation have been so drastic and
far-reaching that I have lost clients and potential clients as a result.
Our very first interaction on social media was in March 2018, when Mr. Wilson doxxed my employer and
address for all his followers to see, and threatened to report/file false claims to my professional organization.
Since that time he has invented conclusions, made false and misleading accusations, and posted information
for how to locate me and my wife. Although my interactions with him have been minimal at best, during the last
two years he has continued to post hundreds of pages of his misrepresentations and accusations about me
and my family, nearly weekly and in multiple languages. He has not only falsely accused me, but has linked his
highly popular site to the private and personal social media accounts of my wife and family, including pictures,
employers, and documents that have my personal address and phone number.
In July 2019, Mr. Wilson filed a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) with false
accusations of trademark violations, and attempted to squelch my freedom of speech by shutting down my
website. My website neither mentioned him, his content, nor his image in any way. Mr. Wilson lost the suit, but
only after thousands of dollars were spent fighting this spurious claim.
Mr. Wilson has a history of relentless obsession with harassing and silencing professionals. Following the
WIPO filing, I received multiple threatening legal letters. These experiences have been so frightening for me
and my family that we no longer feel safe living in our own home. I have switched employers and had to take
careful measures to remove any private information from online sources.
Mr. Wilson’s behavior appears to be obsessive and dangerous, or at the very least, highly irresponsible and
reckless. He seems to be inclined to impulsive extremes -- interviewing with white supremacists, lying, and
attacking me and my fellow colleagues on his website, during interviews, and on social media. He has
repeatedly demonstrated irrational behavior without any regard to those he attacks. In spite of little to no
interaction with him for over a year, he continues to routinely defame me on his various websites and on social
media.

I am a scientist studying pornography on the Active Consent Programme at the School
of Psychology, National University of Ireland, Galway. My research concerns the
association between pornography and sexual violence, as well as sexual health
interventions to improve critical media literacy skills for adolescents. Some of our teams
findings have shown that there appears to be some positives experiences for individuals
with regard to pornography use. I have been invited to disseminate these research
findings to the public via national television, radio and print. As our research findings do
not support the views of certain anti-porn activists, some have expressed upset with my
research. Unfortunately, this has gone far beyond free speech criticism.
Last year one of these activists who had been commenting on my work on the Internet
appeared at my office. While at my office he was observed taking extensive photographs
of my workplace. This video was uploaded to Youtube and was subsequently taken
down. He also appeared at a talk I had been scheduled to give at a conference in
Dublin, but, by luck, unforeseen circumstances meant that I had to send a colleague in
my place. In light of these events, and the continuous online harassment that I received,
the University security and legal team recommended that a safety policy be introduced
to deal with the physical stalking from anti-pornography activists here. The safety
protocol outlined in this policy that I should not travel to or from work on my own at
night, and that I should not stay alone in my office after hours. From a personal
perspective, these experiences were very frightening and continue to cause me and my
family a great deal of stress and worry.
I support the USA courts providing whatever protections are available for Dr. Prause.
These activists have a history of physical stalking and are not making any good faith
efforts to address scientific issues.

I am a cultural scientist at the University of Paderborn, Germany, studying and teaching
pornography. Receiving pushback from within and outside of academia has accompanied my
work in the field from the very onset. However, about a year ago, I learned a painful lesson
as to how drastic these attacks can get, if the wrong people get involved.
On August 22nd
, a popular German right-wing politician retweeted a Twitter post in which I
had announced that I was going to teach a course about the science of pornography at the
Free University of Berlin and added a derogatory comment. What followed was a 48h
shitstorm of thousands of vile responses, ranging from sexualized comments to insults to
threats to blatant antisemitism. It quickly reached US twitter which gave it even more
visibility. I sought help from an organization specializing in hate speech who considered the
situation potentially dangerous enough to advise the university to take special measures to
protect me. I literally had security guards waiting outside my class to make sure that the
digital violence would not turn into physical violence, or at least to disturbances. I had to
check every single ID of my students. Since that day, online harassment is basically part of
my daily life, even if not with the same intensity. I filed charges against roughly 25 accounts,
so far – the procedures are still going on. My employer both at the University and at the
University of Paderborn have received several e-mails demanding to not have me teach this
class or be fired from my job altogether. All because of a SINGLE Tweet.
Gary Wilson also commented on said tweet arguing that I was a member of “the group
engaged in illegal trademark infringement of the legitimate YBOP.” Already before that shit
storm, he had listed me on his website as “porn science denier” because I deconstruct the
cultural narrative around ‘porn addiction’ in my dissertation project. I assume that he
became aware of me when I published a piece on porn addiction that also cited Dr. Prause’s
work. In another post on his website, he claims that I was “ask[ing] twitter to de-platform
Nofap” citing a tweet in which I merely commented on the lack of transparency in Twitter’s
verification process. Though not actually following me on Twitter, he is clearly following my
actions. In yet another post, he links to a video by Gabe Deem who made a 15-minute
YouTube video trying to debunk a journalistic (!) piece of mine and calls me “pro-porn
propagandist” and my writing “irresponsible.” I have never met or been in contact with
neither of this men and have never attacked them in any way whatsoever.
The fact that I – as a junior scholar in Germany who is not even in his field – is already on his
list speaks volumes about the time and effort he invests into this. He even google translated
an entire text of mine from German to English. I find his behavior obsessive. And he has
absolutely no scruples to potentially ruin a young scholar’s career. All of this, however, is
nothing compared to what Dr. Prause is experiencing with Gary Wilson. If I were in her place,
I would probably have ceased my research in this area by now for my own safety and sanity.
The psychological stress put on her, apart from the constant need to defend her work,
uncomfortable conversations with employers, funders, etc. must be beyond exhausting. She
needs to be protected from the harassment of this man and there have to be legal
consequences for what he is doing. His actions go far beyond anything I cold consider free

5. speech. Furthermore, he needs to be excluded from the research community and kept from
joining events in which he is not open to listen and learn anyways. He is denying the
scientific results of dozens of studies because they do not serve his agenda. He has a visible
history of harassment, invasion of privacy ("doxxing"), and cyberstalking and are not making
any good faith efforts to address scientific issues. Gary Wilson is not a scientist whatsoever
and has no place at scientific events. I would absolutely not feel safe in a room with him – let
alone, if I were in Dr. Prause’s place.
I have the highest respect for Dr. Prause’s scientific work and consider her an indispensable
source for my own projects. I strongly believe in the freedom of teaching and research and I
fully support the USA courts providing whatever protections are available for Dr. Prause.

I am a neuroscientist who studies the neurobiology of sexual behavior in animals and humans. I
am familiar with Dr. Prause's research and we have written a couple of empirical papers
together addressing the effects of pornography on humans. As a result of my work with Dr.
Prause, I have been targeted by Gary Wilson, although to a far less extent than Dr. Prause. I
have also been the target of his wife, Marnia Robinson, on a list serv that she trolls. I do not
have Twitter or similar social media accounts, so my interactions have been limited to viewing
what Gary Wilson has posted on his websites www.yourbrainonporn.com and
www.pornstudycritiques.com.
Gary Wilson grossly misrepresents science. He does not appear to have any background or
training to accurately evaluate studies. His claims that his websites are "educational" are
patently false. They appear to be pure propaganda used for the purpose of anti-pornography
and anti-masturbation activism. For example, he often describes my own studies on rodent
models using grossly inaccurate misunderstandings and misrepresentations of the dopamine
system. He is not considered a scientist by anyone I am aware of.
Of course, Gary Wilson has the right to make these false claims and advocate for his extremist
views. The problem is not his free speech. The problem is that Gary Wilson is widely known for
harassing scientists with repetitive, unwanted contact and very public and false criminal
accusations. I have seen hundreds pages that Gary Wilson has posted about Dr. Prause, making
claims about her supposed attempts to sexually molest children, claiming her practice of
psychology as a clinician is "unethical" and that she is "under investigation", and bragging that
he wants to "testify" against her. Along with these claims of criminal behavior, he posts
hundreds of images of her, which she has told me she has asked him many times to remove as
they threaten her safety. He has engaged in and posted numerous interviews and videos about
Dr. Prause, whereas I have seen none that she has ever posted about him. Gary Wilson is clearly
obsessed with Dr. Prause, and he appears completely out of control.
More worrisome is that he now has pages devoted to discussing Dr. Prause's physical location.
There is no reason whatsoever for Gary Wilson to be posting any address of Dr. Prause,
whether personal, work, or otherwise. I would be extremely fearful for my family's safety if he
were doing that to me. In fact, I am concerned that just writing this letter may make me more
of a target, but that is what Wilson is depending on: He clearly hopes to intimidate scientists so
that he can continue to deceive the public.
What worries me more than any of this was discovering that he did physically stalk Dr. Prause
at scientific conferences! For example, he claims to have attended the European Society for
Sexual Medicine (ESSM) annual meeting last year. I was at that meeting but did not see him (if I
had, I would have contacted the conference organizers and hotel security immediately to

7. assure he did not try to stalk Dr. Prause). Wilson has no ability or background to be able to
benefit from attending such a conference, so if he was there, I assume it would be purely to
stalk Dr. Prause or other scientists. He appears to be an out-of-control, obsessive stalker with
no ability, nor intention, to actually learn about the science he is so fond of criticizing.
I would ask the court to provide whatever legal protections are available to Dr. Prause. It is
vitally important that she continue to be able to present her research findings at conferences
without fear. We are all entitled to this. None of us should have to be fearful that we will be
threatened at work, at conferences, or indeed just going about our daily routines, by someone
like Gary Wilson.
I am currently residing between Canada and Mexico but can make myself available via

My name is Hassan Ghedi Santur. I am a Canadian journalist and writer. I am writing on behalf
of Dr. Nicole Prause to describe my experience with Gary Wilson and Marnia Robinson. In 2013,
I interviewed Gary Wilson for a radio documentary called “Generation Porn” which aired on the
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The radio documentary mentioned that Mr. Wilson had no
credentials to make the claims he had made during his interview, a fact that I was
journalistically and ethically obligated to mention on the air.
Two days after the documentary aired, Gary Wilson and Marnia Robinson began relentlessly
emailing and calling my employer. They falsely claimed that I took what he told me out of
context and that the entire interview was meant to be off the record which was a lie. His
harassment campaign got so bad that I feared for my job. Their claims ultimately resulted in an
ethics investigation of me and my work by the CBC Ombudsman. At the end of the
investigation, I was completely exonerated and the Ombudsman found absolutely no evidence
of journalistic malpractice on my part. You can read her report here.
Since my terrible ordeal with Gary Wilson and Marnia Robinson, I have discovered that I was
not the only one they have harassed and tried to ruin their professional reputation. Dr. Prause
told me that Gary Wilson and Marnia Robinson filed complaints against her license to practice
as a psychologist in California, which made her unable to work during a three-year investigation
from which she was completely exonerated. That mirrors my experience exactly. Gary Wilson
and Marnia Robinson appear determined to threaten the livelihoods of all who disagree with
them with fraudulent complaints like the one they made against me.
I am currently living in Nairobi, Kenya therefore, I am only available for a video interview, if
desired. I fully support any relief American courts can provide for Dr. Prause. I had to endure
their harassment for only 2 months so I cannot even imagine what Dr. Prause has been going
through for 7 years or how anyone could tolerate such harassment and threats from Gary
Wilson and Marnia Robinson for such a long period.
I am happy to give more details of Gary Wilson and Marnia Robinson coordinated campaign
against me which could have resulted in the loss of by job if they had their way. I am happy to
be of any assistance to Dr. Prause in her efforts to obtain relief from two people whose
behavior towards me leads me to conclude are deeply unethical and disturbed couple who are
happy to destroy people’s lives just to get their way.

I am a senior Full Professor, with twenty years experience at the University of Calgary. During my career, I
have taught and published on pornography with the full support of my institution.
In 2014, a columnist in the Globe and Mail referenced me by name in an article decrying pornography
studies. Without any scientific or pedagogical evidence, they called for university administrators and
granting agencies “to put a halt” on the field by preventing scholars like me from pursuing my scholarship. I
felt that my research, not to mention my livelihood had been threatened. Sure enough, there were calls to the
university sufficiently worrisome that additional security was scheduled near my office and classrooms for
the remainder of the term. I am lucky, however. I live and work in a jurisdiction where evidence-based
scholarship is valued and my institution was willing to take the extra precautions to ensure my safety.
Since the publication of that 2014 article, there have been other instances where anti-sex and misogynist
members of the community have coordinated to threaten me. While my institution continues to support me,
the cost to my mental health and the fear that members of my family may be harmed (I have had on occasion
felt sufficiently worried to request additional security precautions for my child at school) has definitely
affected my ability to do public scholarship and education on pornography and healthy sexualities.
In 2017, The House of Commons Standing Committee on Public Health released its report on “The public
health effects of the ease of access and viewing of online violent and degrading sexually explicit material of
children, women and men.” I was one of five public health and sexuality scholars to submit a brief detailing
the science behind pornography and advising the committee that:
… the existing empirical evidence fails to indicate that sexually explicit materials (SEM) cause
substantive harm to community health or well-being in Canada. Further, the historic application of
existing legislation regarding the regulation of SEM have particularly burdened gender and sexually
marginalized individuals, as their legally protected rights have been compromised by claims that their
sexual practices mark them as unhealthy.
The final report agreed with our recommendations, despite the fact that the overwhelming number of
submissions and in-person witnesses were aggressively anti-porn. Among them was Gary Wilson.
Nonetheless, the committee concluded that research has not established any “causal relationship” between
watching pornography and negative social or sexual behaviour, and carefully distinguished the qualified,
trained, and experienced researchers from those who appropriate research in non-scientific ways to satisfy
their own ideological biases.

Scholars, scientists, and health professionals must be able to conduct research on sexuality and pornography
in a safe and respectful environment. When we are threatened, it is not only us who are harmed but also
society as a whole. Stigma, shame, and sexual abuse thrive in environments that do not support the entire
spectrum of sexual identities, and that view sex as “dirty.” As I wrote in my response to that 2014 article:
Once we remove that veneer of societal disgust – and judging by pornography's ubiquity in Canada, it
is merely a veneer – we can begin to talk about sexual expression as a human right that should always
be self-determining, authentic, and empowering of ourselves and others. That's how we create a truly
decent society.”
I ask you to reflect on the fundamental meaning of decency and to allow it to guide you into ensuring the
safety of sexuality scholars and scientists.
I am available to speak to the courts about this crucial issue of human rights, intellectual freedom, and
personal safety.

I am an award-winning early career scientist who studies what pornography is, and how it
influences the way that people think, feel, and behave. I publish my work in well-regarded peer-
reviewed journals and contribute to public discussions about the effects of pornography on
humans. Pornography has a long and colorful history of evoking hostility and condemnation that
continues in certain quarters to this day. Mr. Gary Wilson is one particularly loud and vociferous
anti-pornography voice in mainstream debates about this material, and it would appear that he
has made it his life’s mission to disparage, discredit, and even threaten certain academics with
which he disagrees, including both myself, as well as my colleague, Dr. Nicole Prause.
I have been peripherally aware of Mr. Wilson’s work for some time, but it was not until more
recently that I encountered evidence of his clear enmity towards me and my work. I had been
preparing for a conference when I came across a small section of Mr. Wilson’s website devoted
to critiquing some of my research (see https://www.yourbrainonporn.com/relevant-research-and-
articles-about-the-studies/critiques-of-questionable-debunking-propaganda-pieces/). I have
absolutely no problem with valid and thoughtful criticism directed at my published studies;
science is an adversarial process in which ideas need to be challenged with good-faith
arguments. Unfortunately, this is not what Mr. Wilson’s website appears to be about. Instead he
is using this platform to accuse me of purposely ignoring contrary information, biased reporting,
sampling manipulation, having a hidden agenda, and distorting the description of other published
findings. He has no evidence to substantiate any of these claims because they are completely
fallacious. In my field, these are serious accusations of malfeasance and although they are not
grounded in reality they can still jeopardize my employment as an early career scholar. From my
perspective, he appears to be intentionally fabricating such falsehoods to discredit me and my
work because the results of my research sometimes contradict the messaging of his anti-
pornography brand.
More recently, I agreed to allow my name to be listed among other reputable scholars and
clinicians on a website that highlighted peer-reviewed academic research concerning
pornography (see https://www.realyourbrainonporn.com/experts). Generally speaking, much of
the research discussed on this website contradicts Mr. Wilson’s assertions about the harms of
pornography. Apparently, Mr. Wilson took umbrage at the name of this website, which was
similar to the name of his book and his own website. Unfortunately, instead of taking the time to
identify the owner(s) and operator(s) of realyourbrainonporn.com, and respectfully request that
they consider changing the name, he threw a tantrum, and had his lawyer serve me, as well as
many other experts listed on this website with cease and desist orders for actions that we had no
part in. It is evident that Mr. Wilson does not like my work, but there is no legitimate reason to
think that I was involved in the design, creation, or maintenance of this website or its name. I
believe that this frivolous legal action was executed intentionally to deliver an implied threat to
me as well as others; if we continue to publically challenge his opinions about pornography or
appear to be associated with people that do, he will do everything in his power to shut us down.

12. I’m not disclosing these issues because I have a grudge to settle, the vitriol that he has directed
towards me, as bothersome as I find it personally, probably lies within his first amendment
rights. Instead, I’m mentioning these things because I believe that it they may help to corroborate
Dr. Prause’s claims of harassment.
I do this with some hesitancy because Mr. Wilson’s disrespectful bullying behavior worries me a
great deal. I have heard that Mr. Wilson is not above doxxing scientists and therapists with
whom he disagrees, allegedly posting personal images, information, and addresses on his website
to facilitate harassment. That reputation, combined with the evidence of personal hostility that I
have outlined above, have encouraged me to remain relatively silent about his behavior, lest I
provoke an even more negative response from him. This may actually be what Mr. Wilson is
relying on. If scientists like me feel intimidated or threatened, they will be less likely to
challenge possibly fraudulent claims that he is making. In writing this letter, I worry that he may
respond by coming after me personally by either contacting my employer in an effort to get me
fired or posting my personal information online, which could endanger not only me, but my wife
and two daughters as well. Essentially, what I am trying to say is that I share some of the very
same concerns that Dr. Prause is expressing with this legal suit.
With respect to Mr. Wilson’s behavior towards Dr. Prause, all that I can really speak to is the
information that he posts on his Twitter account (@YourBrainOnPorn) and hosts on his website
(www.yourbrainonporn.com). Even a cursory examination of this material is very revealing. For
example, I visited his Twitter feed on June 8th
2020, and found that he had “pinned,” to the top of
his feed, a Tweet which describes Dr. Prause as a “serial false accuser, harasser, [and] defamer,”
claims that she has “close ties to [the] porn industry,” and links to an article hosted on Mr.
Wilson’s website that strongly and clearly insinuates that Dr. Prause is a pedophile intent on
harming children with her research. The following is an abbreviated quote from the relevant
section of that article:
“Sexologists like Prause have very strange ideas about human sexuality. On her Twitter
feed, Prause laments the inability to study the sexuality of minors without being called a
pedophile. This is not surprising coming from a person who studied at the Kinsey
Institute…Kinsey did more to normalize pedophilia than anyone before or after him…It
is clear that Prause sees no issue with involving children in studies about sexuality.”

The implied messaging about pedophilia, in particular, is both extraordinary and disgusting! And
this is just one example of the sorts of material that Mr. Wilson promotes. There are many more
articles about Dr. Prause on his website, and all that I have seen are similarly unfavorable. Now,
I know personally that many of Mr. Wilson’s claims about her are false, but members of the
public could be easily persuaded by his rhetoric. For example, one specious claim that he appears
to favour is that Dr. Prause has physiologically tested “porn stars” in her research. She has

13. personally assured me that she has not, and moreover, it is very unlikely that research ethics
boards which regulate all of our research would allow her to recruit from such a vulnerable
population, for this type of research, without overwhelming justification of the benefits of such
work, and a clear rationale for why it could not be accomplished with participants who were not
members of this community.
Generally speaking, it is my view that people like Mr. Wilson are best ignored. Indeed, that is the
approach that I have tried to take myself. The situation with Dr. Prause, however, is quite
concerning. She has informed me that he has filed a complaint against her with her former
employer, UCLA; filed a complaint against her license as a psychologist; filed a lawsuit against
her for a website she did not own (the same website that he threatened me and many others
over); contacted her grant agency to try to have her funding rescinded; and most recently,
contacted the ethics board of a colleague of hers at the University of Pittsburgh. This is extreme
behavior. I have no idea how she has continues to do any research given the extent of
professional harassment she faces from Mr. Wilson. I do not know how this started, or what Mr.
Wilson’s motives are, but this sort of conduct should not be allowed to continue.
More concerning than his defamation and fraudulent complaints against her professionally, is
that his behavior also threatens her safety. Read his web pages. Read his Tweets. Watch the
video posts he has made about her. Mr. Wilson’s contempt for her is not subtle. He has a strong
influence over a large following of people and it is not a stretch to imagine that his relentless
attacks on her character will inspire a misguided individual to physically attack her. She has
shown me anonymous threats of assault and rape and it is very hard for me to believe that such
threats are unrelated to Mr. Wilson’s campaign against her.
I would encourage the court to do whatever it can to protect Dr. Prause from Mr. Wilson’s
ongoing attacks. I currently reside in Canada, but would be happy to make myself available for
further questioning via video conferencing if needed. I genuinely hope that you will be able to
resolve this issue and that my participation in this process does not make me an attractive target
for more of Mr. Wilson’s hostile behavior.

As an attorney who works in the Superior Court system, I am writing on behalf of Nicole (Nikky)
Prause. I met Nikky around 2012 when she moved to Los Angeles. We are both members of the
same running club. I serve as an informal running club photographer, and I am in charge of the
club's Instagram account. I am also an administrator for our club's facebook account. I try to
take as many photos of club members as possible so that I have plenty of pictures from which
to choose in order to create appealing social media posts.
Nikky has been open with several running club members about problems she has been
experiencing with a stalker due to her work. Whenever she has run with the club, Nikky has
asked me not to include her in any photographs, and she has asked me never to mention her
name in posts. She told me that she fears for her safety because her stalker has been relentless
in his harassment of her, and she did not want her stalker to know anything about her location
or her routine. I have respected her wishes.
I fully support the court providing any relief available to Nikky from this stalker, and I am
available to testify on her behalf.

pornography make no difference in whether or not we would present
her as an expert on the topic. Pornography is, in fact, her expertise
whether she finds it primarily negative or positive. However, when we
initially started working with Dr. Prause in 2016, she requested that
we not pitch her as an expert on the topic of pornography due to the
personal attacks she was experiencing as a result of her speaking in
this area. We have respected her request. She has not, and we do
not expect will, profit from her research on pornography as a part of
her paid speaking.

Dear California Board of Psychology,
Dr. Nicole Prause has asked me to provide my observations of Gary Wilson and Marnia Robinson,
owners of yourbrainonporn.com and pornstudycritiques.com. I am a licensed psychologist based in
New Mexico, and am a researcher, author and media commentator who has extensive interactions
with the public, including a blog on Psychology Today. In that role, I, myself, have often been
repeatedly attacked with false claims by Gary Wilson and Marnia Robinson for calling attention to their
pseudoscience. These individuals have engaged in countless ad hominem attacks against myself, and
colleagues who comment on the dangerous and potentially harmful advocacy of these individuals and
their followers.
I often mention Dr. Prause's work in my writing. For most of 2013, Gary Wilson consistently
commented on my blogs denigrating Dr. Prause's work with critiques he knew to be false, made false
claims about her personally, and did so with a very high repetition and consistency that I would
describe as "obsessive" and, understandably, frightening. We found (through search) copies of
identical pasted text submitted under his name in hundreds of instances across the Internet. At this
point, I believe Mr. Wilson spends his time online looking for additional opportunities to libel and
threaten Dr. Prause. I know he has filed dozens of complains against her at this point, none of which I
have seen to be substantiated.
Since Dr. Prause sent her cease and desist to Gary Wilson and Marnia Robinson, there are numerous
instances of the same text pasted in the same pattern whenever I blog about Dr. Prause's work or
pornography research, but now it appear under "anonymous" or pseudonyms. In addition to the text
being largely identical to Gary Wilson's previous post content, format, and links, we also have found it
is being posted by an IP address in Ashland, OR that was previously tied to Mr. Wilson.
Having witnessed his online cyberstalking of Dr. Prause, as well as other individuals including myself, I
feel confident this cyberstalking has continued unabated under Wilson's pseudonyms. Mr. Wilson also
seems unaware that he is revealing his identity through his IP address with his website visits/posts. Mr.
Wilson and his followers appear to feel extremely threatened by research or clinical opinions which
challenge the assertions and beliefs closely held by their group, which identifies addiction to
pornography as a highly dangerous modern experience, resulting in loss of vitality, masculinity,
initiative and sexual competence. Unfortunately, neither Wilson, Robinson, nor the great majority of
their followers, are trained in sexuality, research, or clinical mental health. As a result, they confuse
their conviction, for evidence, and lash out vehemently at responsible critical thinkers such as Dr.
Prause.

I am writing on behalf of Dr. Prause to give accurate testimony of the harassment of Nicole
Prause by Gary Wilson. I had a direct interaction with Mr. Gary Wilson on Twitter recently in
which Mr. Wilson was making false claims about Dr. Prause's research and personal character.
This interaction was not instigated, nor did it involve, Dr. Prause, but out of my own desire to
call out his harassment online. I have witnessed many incidents of Gary Wilson either openly
posting defamatory statements about Dr. Prause online, including on his own webpages and in
comments sections of media reports. I also have seen many instances of "anonymous" posters
copying and pasting this defamatory content directly from Gary Wilsons's web pages, which I
believe is Gary Wilson himself. I also have witnessed Gary Wilson's multi-year history of
attacking other scientists and providers online wherever content about pornography has
appeared.
Their strategy to blame Dr. Prause for "harassment" is consistent with their use of this strategy
online. In my experience, it was false. I encourage the Board of Psychology to strongly oppose
the continued harassment of Dr. Prause by Gary Wilson. I am available to further describe these

18. Dear Board of Psychology,
I am the editor of the journal Socioaffective Neuroscience in Psychology as well as a
neuroscientist studying human sexuality myself. I am aware that Gary Wilson and
Marnia Robinson submitted an accusation to UCLA that Dr. Prause had "threatened"
me in the past. She has never threatened me. Gary Wilson, as best I can tell, pulled an
unrelated quote from an email in which he tried to have Dr. Prause's paper retracted
from our journal claiming the data were falsified and other accusations.
Dr. Prause also mentioned that she has been accused of threatening scientists with
whom she disagrees in this complaint. She and I have different perspectives on a
number of data sets, and she has invited media to contact me in the past to better
represent both sides of data interpretation. This seems to be the opposite of someone
who threatens colleagues, rather making sure qualified scientists who disagree with her
perspective are accurately represented when possible.

I study the effects of identifying as a sex or porn addict and its relationship to individual differences,
such as religious history. We published a (peer-reviewed) longitudinal study testing whether
adopting the label "addict" was helpful over time in improving individuals' distress about their sex
film use. We found that those who use this label actually become more, not less, distressed over
time. One implication is that encouraging people to adopt this label, such as can occur in treatment
with "sex addiction" and "porn addiction" specialists, is likely to harm patients. Additionally, of
course, neither sex nor porn addiction appear in the DSM-5 or ICD-10, nor are they under
consideration in future revisions that have been released. Thus it is both likely to harm and
inaccurate for a therapist to tell patients they have this diagnosis. Further, there remains no
empirically valid treatment for sex or porn addiction.
As a result, I find Dr. Prause's suggestion that patients whose therapists provide them this diagnosis
might have an incompetent or unethical therapist reasonable. The links to the state boards that she
provides include all the information that a person would need to further evaluate whether they want
to pursue a complaint. She is helping translate potential implications of research for patients.
Given these factors, I am expressing my strongest support of Dr. Prause and her continued license to
practice psychology in the state of California.

Dear California Board of Psychology,
I am writing to you in support of Nicole Prause, PhD, and to share my experiences with
Gary Wilson and Marnia Robinson.
I first became acquainted with Gary Wilson and Marnia Robinson, who run the websites
www.yourbrainonporn.com and www.pornstudycritiques.com, when they began publicly
criticizing my peer-reviewed publications. The findings from my research called into
question the validity of sex and pornography addiction. My research preceded, and in part
contributed to, the rejection of sex addiction (i.e., Hypersexual Disorder) from the DSM-5.
It was deemed to lack sufficient validity as a disorder.
As far as I know, neither Mr. Wilson nor Ms. Robinson have received any formal post-
secondary training in research, yet they posted numerous false claims and gross
inaccuracies about my research online (and others’). I believe this is because they have a
vested interest in the idea of sex and pornography addiction, as it is central to their
business and advocacy work.
I am not the only who they have attacked. I also witnessed their attack on a radio producer
at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. I consulted on an episode of the show Ideas
about pornography use. Mr. Wilson, who was interviewed for the piece, was upset that his
point of view was challenged and made a complaint to the ombudsman about the
producer. The complaint was formally reviewed and dismissed.
It seems that Mr. Wilson and Ms. Robinson have set their sights on Dr, Prause, as her
research also challenges the many unfounded claims they make on their websites. Dr.
Prause has advocated against those who continue to offer sex and pornography addiction
treatment, as it is unethical to provide treatment for a supposed disorder for which there is
no scientific support. Additionally, Mr. Wilson and Ms. Robinson have claimed that sex
addiction can be diagnosed using the DSM or ICD, which is simply untrue. It does not
surprise me to see that Mr. Wilson has escalated his harassment to filing false complaints
against Dr. Prause’s to her licensing body.
Mr. Wilson and Ms. Robinson’s continued harassment of Dr. Prause appears to be a blatant
attempt to silence Dr. Prause, as she represents a threat to their livelihood and advocacy

22. work. This is not new ground for them; from what I have observed, it is a tactic that they
employ to bully their detractors.
