  2. 2. Healthy lifestyle means staying fit, being energetic and not being at the risk of having any disease. Eating nutritional food, exercising regularly and having sufficient amount of sleep is the key factors to living healthily. But how do we live a healthy lifestyle and what is counted as a healthy lifestyle? What is a healthy lifestyle?

  4. 4. 1. Exercise regularly • 150 minutes per week • Aerobic exercises (e.g. Running, Jogging, Lifting weights) • Reduces the risks of getting diseases such as obesity or heart diseases • Increase their energy level. How to lead a healthy lifestyle?

Have sufficient amount of sleep • One should have at least 8-9 hours of sleep a day • Having enough sleep keeps you refresh and more energy • Insufficient sleep result in weight gain as our metabolism will slow down • Lack of sleep will make you feel stress How to lead a healthy lifestyle?

Drink more water • One should consume at least drink 8 cups of water a day. • Sweetened drink can increase the risk of getting diabetes and obesity. • Drinking more water will helps to boost your metabolism, cleanse your body waste and acts as a body suppressant. • Your body will stop retaining more water leading you to drop the extra pounds of water weight. How to lead a healthy lifestyle?
  7. 7. 4. Eating healthily • Eat at least three meals a day with healthy snacks in between • Balanced diet • Avoid eating processed food or junk food which are all high in calories and increases the risk of getting diseases
  8. 8. 1. Looking out for protein It doesn’t have to be a plate full of just vegetables. It is important to make sure that there is enough protein on your plates as well. Choose protein foods such as lean beef ,pork ,chicken or turkey and eggs ,nuts ,beans ,or tofu. Twice a week ,make seafood the protein on your plate. Our body uses protein to build and repair tissues. Protein also help to produce enzymes ,hormones ,and other body chemicals. Protein is an important building block of bones ,muscles ,cartilage ,skin ,and blood. What is a healthy meal?
  9. 9. 2. Include whole grains Examples of whole grain food are barely, brown rice and oatmeal. Grains are important sources of many nutrients, including fiber, B vitamins and minerals such as iron. Eating whole grains can help to reduce the risk of chronic diseases. For example, whole grains can help to decrease blood cholesterol level and lower the risk of heart diseases. Whole grains are rich in fibre therefore it provides a feeling of fullness with a minimum calories which helps individual to maintain their weight. Three to eight ounces of grains are recommended each day, depending on how many calories you need. About one-half of these should be whole grains.
  10. 10. 3. Reduce sugar, oil ,salt and fats Avoiding fats allow you to lose weight. They are high in calories and do not contain any vitamins or minerals. However, there is no need to completely give it up, it is best to reduce the intake of sugar, oil, salts and fats.
