5. We decided against this font due to the fact that the signifiers gave of a gothic look which didn’t embody our magazine style. This font was both too fancy and over the top. It looked more like a title for a rock magazine so it would not represent our target audience. We agreed that this font looks too stencil like and didn’t stand out from the others. The border of this font made it look too childish and not appropriate for the masthead of our magazine. The style of this font is too techno and sci-fi, whereas we wanted a bold, effective and yet simple font.
6. The font is unclear, and is presented in a graffii style which is the opposite to what our genre of music is for our magazine. We chose not to use this font due to the wild west theme it seems to portray which would cause confusion to our target audience and they would think the magazine is of a different genre to what it actually is. The width and eroded style of the text would not be suitable for a masthead as it would be too hard to see from a distance and would not stand out from other magazines due to the fact it is not bold. We decided against this font as the letters are not spaced out as much, therefore being difficult to see. The sci-fi signifier the font portrays doesn’t fit with our genre of music.
7. The reason we chose this font for out magazine was because the style was bold, making it stand out. The style of this font produced a look of importance and popularity. The text alongside the capital ‘E’, gave us a good idea for a house style.
8. The lack of pictures and text made the layout look bland and empty. However we decided that we would keep the mast head at the top of the page but expand the idea, so it was spread out across the page and not located in the top left corner.
9. We decided that that the masthead going down the left hand side of the page would be inappropriate for the house style due to the fact that it wouldn’t catch the consumers attention. Also, the use of many images made the front cover look too busy. Therefore we did not choose to use this style for our final layout.
10. We chose this layout for our magazine due to the bold masthead across the top of the page, signifying confidence and popularity. We decided that the main image would be in the middle of the page, overlapping the masthead, continuing the theme of popularity.
11. From discussing all the possibilities for our music magazine we decided that we were going to keep the continuity which most magazines contain and keep the colour scheme simple which would mean each month our magazine would consist of the colours red, black and white on the front cover. After drawing up sketches of possible ideas for a front cover layout we decided that the best way to lay it out would be to have our masthead going across the top of the magazine which we felt would make it stand out from other magazines. We didn’t want to make our magazine look too hectic like other music magazines choose to do as we felt it would look untidy and agreed one photograph would be effective enough to draw our target audience in to our magazine if the photograph was strong and bold enough. When it came to finding a font for our magazine that both suited our genre and stood out but was too extravagant we had trouble coming to a decision as a group. After discussing what each of us wanted the title to generally look like we all contributed to looking for a right font and finally reached a decision and agreed that our chosen front was the best choice for our magazine.
