6. PROJECTS
Institution: Tshwane University of Technology
Subject: Intelligent Industrial Systems 3
Project Name: Robotics Programming
Programming language/s:
Arduino
Processing
Duration: 6 Months (2015)
Project Description:
Build a mobile robot using an Arduino Uno board,
Ardumoto board, colour sensor, an IR distance sensor
(Sharp GP2Y0A21YK0F), IR sensors and assorted
components to implement localization by the means
of normalization and probability. Implement the
colour sensor on a mobile platform to detect different
coloured objects. Implement the GP2Y0A21YK0F
distance sensor to detect obstacles at different
distances in front of the sensor. Implement a program
to prevent the AGV from colliding with obstacles.
Implement a program to have the robot reach certain
way-points represented as X and Y co-ordinates from
a (0, 0, 0) starting position. Implement the IR sensors
to detect a black/dark line on a white/light
background, and write a program for the robot which
uses the data from the sensors in order to follow the
line.
7. Institution: Tshwane University of Technology
Subject: IT Electronics 3A
Project Name: Temperature Sensor
Programming Language/s: C or Assembler Language (optional)
Duration: 2 Months (2015)
Project Description:
Build a temperature sensor system with a power
consumption of 5 Volts that is able to measure a
change in room temperature from -50°C to +150°C.
Using a LM35 temperature sensor, a LM016L LCD
display, a PIC16F887 microchip, PICkit 3 and
assorted components. Write a program into the
PIC16F887 microchip that implements an analog
signal from the temperature sensor to detect the
change in room temperature, and then display that
value detected on the LCD display in degrees Celsius.
(Room Temperature: 27°C)
