  1. 1. The process of Tazkiya Truly he succeeds that purifies it… As-Shams, 91:9
  2. 2. The Messenger of Allah said: If someone wants to know what position he enjoys in the eyes of Allah, he has only to look at what place he gives to Allah [in his heart]. - Hakim
  3. 3. Tazkiya Self Development Purification: from what is unwholesome, undesirable, unwelcome. Nurturing and strengthening human qualities. Success and happiness depends on Tazkiya.
  4. 4. Our ultimate goal in life To seek Allah’s pleasure And there is the type of man who gives his life to earn the pleasure of Allah; and Allah is full of kindness to (His) devotees. Al-Baqara 2: 207 To seek Jannah And surely Paradise – it is the goal. Al-Naziat 79:41  To seek Allah’s pleasure = To seek Jannah
  5. 5. Stepping towards Paradise 1st Step Focus on real and ultimate goal. A conscious choice. Absolute break from past. This is like beginning a new journey. Start your journey with fresh mind and soul.
  6. 6. Stepping towards Paradise  2nd Step: Understand your mission. Ask yourself. What Allah requires of you. Is it for you to be a Mumin and Mujahid. Don’t’ feel bad for your personal shortcomings. Principle of gradualism: you can not expect change in one day.

Stepping towards Paradise  3rd Step: Your bargain with Allah. Al Tawba 9:111  Allah hath purchased of the Believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the Garden (of Paradise): they fight in His Cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in Truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur-an: and who is more faithful to his Covenant than Allah? Then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme. This is the ideal. Ideals are always difficult to achieve. Ideals are always to be pursued.
  8. 8. Summary The goal of life. The desire for Tazkiya is a life-long process which can be sparked in a moment.  This desire provides means and momentum to reach the goal.

  10. 10. Personal responsibility It is result of your own realization, own efforts and own exertions. Personal responsibility is the basis of whole Islamic way of life. Depends on the tremendous potential that Allah has blessed you with. Sound knowledge >> Iman >>amal saleh >>good company.
  11. 11. Genuine Efforts Initial desire and Genuine effort is part of continuous process of Tazkiya. It the intention & effort that matters, not the result.
  12. 12. Sustaining will-power Irada. Requires strength & consistency. Antithesis of doubt, hesitation, lethargy.
  13. 13. Reliance on Allah: Self-confidence A superiority complex negates Tazkiya. Inferiority complex is derived from lack of reliance on Allah and oneself. Evil form of Self-confidence.
  14. 14. The Best Use of Time A balance daily life. Your time is your life, and your life is your capital; it is the basis of your transaction [with Allah]. And the means to attain to everlasting felicity, in the proximity of Allah SWT.- Ihya Ulum ad-Din The deeds most loved by Allah [ are those] done regularly, even if they are few.- Bukhari, Muslim With best use of time you must aim for excellence.
  15. 15. Tazkiya: all-embracing process Tazkiya must encompass our entire life. Delicate balance between different obligations and responsibilities. Compartmentalized attitude results disharmony and unhappiness. Our Prophet is our best example to follow.
  16. 16. Summary Prophet is our best model. Personally take charge of your responsibility. Develop the will-power to move forward. Make a genuine effort to fulfill obligations. Ensure best use of time, and Adopt a balance approach of life.
  17. 17. Clarify your path. Consider the ways and means to achive Paradise. The process of Tazkiya will not only purify your soul, but also affect your entire life and the will of Allah will become much easier to follow. All your effort will be directed towards Allah’s pleasure.
  18. 18. Every sin can be effaced through Allah’s forgiveness. Tazkiya must be pursued in all aspects of life, and in life as a whole. Every effort that is legitimate and is aimed at attaining Paradise is also an integral part of process of Tazkiya.
