BULATAO Learning Area Understanding Culture, Society and Politics Teaching Dates and Time March 27-31, 2023 Quarter SECOND 1ST SESSION 2ND SESSION 3RD SESSION I. OBJECTIVES Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises, and remedial activities may be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using Formative Assessment strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content and competencies and enable children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides. A. CONTENT STANDARD The learners demonstrate an understanding of: 1. culture and society as anthropological and sociological concepts 2. perspectives in/approaches to the study of culture and society (i.e., comparative, historical, structural functional, interpretive, critical) B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD The learners 1. appreciate the nature of culture and society from the perspectives of anthropology and sociology 2. demonstrate a holistic understanding of culture and society 3. values cultural heritage and express pride of place without being ethnocentric C. LEARNING COMPETENCIES/OBJECTIVES (WRITE THE LC CODES FOR EACH) Explain the importance of cultural relativism in attaining cultural understanding II. CONTENT Distinguishing Kinship, Marriage and Household: Kinship by blood, Kinship by Marriage Elaborating Human Dignity, Rights and the Common Good Describing Conformity and Deviance III. LEARNING RESOURCES List the materials to be used in different days. Varied resources of materials sustain children’s interest in the lesson and in learning. Ensure that there is a mix of concrete and manipulative materials as well as paper-based materials. Hands-on learning promotes concept development. A. REFERENCES 1. PROCEDURES These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that students will learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the students which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice their learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step. A. REVIEWING PREVIOUS LESSON OR PRESENTING THE NEW LESSON Review the previous lesson: Let the learners differentiate the primary and secondary groups.   2. B. ESTABLISHING A PURPOSE FOR THE LESSON Let the learners complete the crossword by filling in a word that fits each clue. C. PRESENTING EXAMPLES / INSTANCES OF THE NEW LESSON D. DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPTS AND PRACTICING NEW SKILLS # 1 Discuss the concept of Kinship, Marriage and Household: Kinship by blood, Kinship by Marriage Discuss the concept of Human Dignity, Rights and the Common Good Discuss the concept of Conformity and Deviance E. DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPTS AND PRACTICING NEW SKILLS # 2 Discuss the classification of kinship. What is Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)? Discuss the types of Deviant behavior F. DEVELOPING MASTERY (LEADS TO FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT # 3) Ask the learners do you find it appropriate for relatives to marry each other for the purpose of maintaining wealth within their own family? Let the learners internalizing the importance of Human Dignity, Rights and the Common Good Let the learner read the scenario below and answer the questions. G. FINDING PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF CONCEPTS AND SKILLS IN DAILY LIVING Ask the learner will you live with your parents/spouse’s parents when you get married? Explain your answer. Let the learners cite at least five (5) violations you observe on human dignity and human rights (ex. abortion, gender discrimination, etc.) and think of the ways on how to prevent these violations to happen and present to the class. Let the learners write down 3 positive effects of deviance and 3 negative effects of conformity to groups and society in their activity notebook. H. MAKING GENERALIZATIONS AND ABSTRACTIONS ABOUT THE LESSON Ask the learners how marriage between individuals in a society can establish kinship Ask the learners are you willing to sacrifice your own personal gain in favor of what will be beneficial and good for all? Ask the learners which is more important for you, Conformity or Deviance? Why? I. EVALUATING LEARNING Oral recitation Oral recitation Short quiz J. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR APPLICATION OR REMEDIATION Group the students into 3 groups. Inform them that this grouping is for the next meeting’s developmental activity. Instruct them to assign a group leader and write their names in a ¼ sheet of paper. Each group will prepare a three-minute presentation mimicking a K-Pop group or their favorite idol. Before their performance next meeting, they must submit a research work about their K-Pop group or their LODI group. They are also allowed to bring their own costume/ props. V. REMARKS VI. REFLECTION Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about your students’ progress this week. What works? What else needs to be done to help the students learn? Identify what help your instructional supervisors can provide for you so when you meet them, you can ask them relevant questions. A. NO.
