the central Mihrab in the mosque contains an inscription
indicating the completion date of the mosque April 1199.
Beautified by Iltutmish in 1213, inscription on the central
arch of the screen as well as two inscriptions of the
northern minaret contain his name.

The domed gateway is decorated with red sandstone and inlaid
white marble decorations.

Alauddin khilji decided to construct a tower
double the size of Qutubminar.
Constrctution of Alai Minar came to end with
death of Alaudduin Khilji in 1316.
Today alai minar is massive red rubble
strcture stands at a height of 25 meters (80ft).
