  1. MATERIALS (MATERIALS OF FUTURE) Presented by: G.Yasasvi and M. sivani Department of CSE, MADANAPALI INSTITUTION OF TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCE.
  2. Why we choose this topic ? Because, in our daily life we use so many smart materials but we don’t know their function. If we know their functioning we can improve technology and our knowledge. Smart materials are the materials which have certain characteristics by which they have special position in our life.
  3. INTRODUCTION: Smart materials are new generation materials surpassing the conventional and functional materials . which posses the ability to change their physical property in the specific manner in response to specific stimulus.  The stimuli could be pressure, temperature, electrical and magnetic fields, chemical, hydrostatic pressure or nuclear radiation.  The associated changeable physical property could be shape stiffness, viscosity or damping.  Smartness describes self-adaptability, self-sensing, memory and multiple functionalities of the materials or structures.
  4. APPLICATIONS: as per as the technical applications of smart materials is concerned, it involves composite material embedded with these applications. Fiber optics Actuator Sensor Micro electro mechanical systems Vibration control Sound control, shop control Food safety Automatic doors
  5. AUTOMATIC DOORS:  When we step on the mat the sensors send a signal to the automatic doors operate doors operate an optic or motion sensor sense motion nearby, they trigger the automatic doors to open and then close. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA-NC
  6. USES: • Automatic doors have many useful purposes which is why you can find them in many different types of locations . from supermarket to airport and many types of large buildings. • Easier for people to get into and out of buildings . They are especially helpful for people who are handicapped.
  7. FOOD SAFETY: Active food contact materials absorb or release substances in order to improve the quality of packaged food or to extend its shelf life.
  8. AWARENESS: Specify for industry which aspects EFSA takes into account when accessing the safety of these substances and the types of data needed to conduct the assessments. The evaluations also consider the possible influence of manufacturing process and intended uses of specific substance.
  9. CONCLUSION: • Today, the most promising technologies for lifetime efficiency and improved reliability include the use of smart materials and structures. • Controlling the composition and microstructure of any new materials are the ultimate objectives of research in this field. • And is crucial to the production of good materials.
