3. Research and development into artificial precognition and decision-
making support for persistent surveillance-based tactical support
The project demonstrates how artificial
intelligence (AI) can be exploited in a manner
that can be easily consumed by the end user. In
this case for the clustering or grouping of
individuals based on proximity and use of
communications, and for the analysis of video
to alert users to dangerous situations. We’ve
developed an architecture that demonstrates
the capability (backend) and a visual interface
that allows users to imagine the applicability of
the capability and ways to interact with it
(frontend)

4. Success to date
Our success so far has been in creating:
1. Configurable dashboard element that allows arbitrary (real or schematic) maps to be
uploaded and used to plot movement and association of assets, entities or targets in
real time
2. Automatic, dynamic, real time clustering of entities/targets based on proximity and
shared communications
3. Integration of dashboard with video feed to give analyst full understanding of the
domain under study
4. Real time video analysis, using deep learning, to determine threatening situations, such
as fighting or general violence
All delivered in a linearly scalable architecture

5. What next?
We envision that the next iterations of this technology will integrate social media,
extend and integrate the deep learning AI engine with facial and number plate
recognition, crowd sizing and behaviour anomaly detection. Open mapping,
alerting and a decision support language will also be integrated
The goal is to run a realistic simulation of a littoral operation – Massive Analytic will
use the capabilities of Oscar alongside the a decision support language to plan an
entire amphibious operation, showing exactly what is to happen and when, and
then demonstrate the resilience of the system by simulating a change in the ground
state (for instance unexpected weather or equipment failure)
