The Trinity Architecture proposed here is an architectural pattern for backend enterprise applications. It emanates from a typical 4-layers architecture employing the Dependency Inversion Principle (DIP). It is ideal for, but not limited to, Domain-Driven Design (DDD) applications. The three pillars of Trinity are: the Domain Model (DOMAIN), the public Application Programming Interface (API), and the Auxiliary Services (AUX). Trinity emphasizes on balancing uncontrolled flexibility with consistency. It provides specific implementation guidelines with eight top modules.

Simulation for Decision Support: How and when it works for Defence Applications Perhaps the most popular and well known applications for simulation in Defence are training and strategic battle planning. However, simulation is a powerful decision support tool and is used extensively in this manner within other industries. For Defence, Discrete Event Simulation (DES) can be used to inform strategies, planning and decision making across the asset life cycle. This includes: • Concept development and requirements capture; • Construction and delivery; • Usage upkeep and maintenance; • Training and support facilities; • Future capability supply and demand; and • Cost modelling in support of the above. In many instances where the norm is to develop a spreadsheet model, a DES model can provide far superior insights whilst being developed at a similar cost. DES models are more dynamic, interactive and flexible than spreadsheet models, while the outputs from a simulation can be easily exported to spreadsheet to ensure compatibility with other analysis packages and reporting formats. www.bmtdesigntechnology.com.au
