4. Local trainings. Preparation.
Step 1. To create regional trainers’ team
•Good team is a pledge of success!
•Professional skills and motivation, active practice,
flexibility and quick mastering of approaches:
leading regional experts on obstetrics and
neonatology;
representatives of profile departments of local
medical universities;
regional and rayon level clinicians;
appointed regional coordinators.
16 neonatologists and 16 obstetricians were
trained
5. Step 2. Training of trainers
• Trainings conducted by the Programme international
experts (3 trainings during a year).
• Trainings with participation of Programme national
clinical experts (4 trainings during a year).
• Training course on the base of NMAPE
1 week stationary and
online .
7. Step 3. Organization of teamwork at the
local level
• Administrative support of health authorities and heads of
institutions.
• Available training materials.
• Logistic issues: notebook, projector,
premises, etc.
• Combination of trainings and monitoring visits.
9. Peculiarities of local trainings:
• short-term;
• audience-oriented;
• practically-oriented;
• interactive;
• include practical training for skills development;
• online translation of conferences, seminars, e.g.,
there are about 100 connection points during
professional conferences;
• involving of obstetricians, neonatologists,
midwives, nurses.

Totally – 91;
local – 36.
• Number of trained specialists:
obstetricians – 1777;
neonatologists – 794;
midwives – 62;
nurses – 407;
family doctors – 65.
14. Local trainings: what are their
advantages? (1)
• Statistical data generally confirm the positive
results, e.g. % of natural deliveries or infant
mortality rate in partner regions are usually lower
than the national average rate.
• About 80% of obstetricians and neonatologists
follow modern clinical guidelines and practices.
• However, family doctors still have to study
perinatal practices.
15. Local trainings: what are their
advantages?(2)
• Very positive feedback from participants.

• Patients’ feedback: "Comfortable rooms,
qualified medical personnel. Everything has
changed so much over the past two years! I
can hardly to believe that! The same people
work here, but their attitude towards patients,
as well as approaches have changed
dramatically."
