3. Textiles or Fabrics Suitable for Household Linens
Many household types of linen, such as pillowcases, bed
covers, table linens, and others, are made from fabrics or textiles.
Fabric or cloth is a material made from fibers. A textile is any
product made from fabric while fibers are raw materials used to
make cloth.
5. Two Kinds of Fabric
* Natural fabrics are made from fibers of plants and
animals.
Examples: cotton, linen, wool, and silk
* Man- made fabrics are made from synthetic fiber made by
man.
Examples: nylon, polyester, rayon
9. Sewing Threads
• Threads are sold in spools or balls of 45.72 m, 64.008 m, and 91.44 m
(50, 70, and 100 yards). A wide variety of threads is available, from
colored or plain white, to cotton, rayon, and silk. For sewing machines,
choose the mercerized cotton thread. It is stronger and more elastic
than plain cotton thread because it has treated to increase strength and
gloss.
