2. So, you want to know how to
find information on the
internet.
One of the best ways to find
information is to search through
databases.
1. First, go to http://mel.org
2. This screen (to the right) will pop
up. Click on MeL Databases.
3. For this Tutorial, we will be using General
Reference Center Gold.
This screen will come up. Scroll down until you find General Reference Center
Gold.
4. Once you spot General Reference
Center Gold, click on it.
5. This screen will appear!
We are going to use Subject. Once you have clicked on subject, click where it
says Search for Articles. (For this tutorial, we will be using Gulf Oil Spill.)
6. Type in Gulf Oil Spill, and press the Search
key!
7. Once you click search, this screen (bottom left) will come up.
Keep looking until you find Environmental impact—jury’s still out
(hint: it is on the second page). Click on it.
8. After clicking on the
article, search for the
information that you need!
Read or skim the article, until you
come across the information that you
need.
9. Feel free to click through the other articles
until you have sufficient information.
Once you’ve found all the information you
need, remember to properly site your sources.
