President Trump signed a two-year budget deal into law early Friday morning that includes a stopgap measure to fund the government through March 23. Earlier, the Senate failed to approve the bill in time for the midnight Thursday deadline — leading to the second government shutdown of the year.
Amazon is launching a delivery service that will compete with the likes of UPS and FedEx, reports The Wall Street Journal. It will be called “Shipping with Amazon” and will pick up packages from businesses and ship them to customers. The service will be tried out in Los Angeles first with third-party merchants that sell goods via Amazon.
US stocks plunged into correction territory at the close on Thursday, with the Dow dipping more than 1,000 points and the S&P 500 falling almost 4% — both down 10% from record highs in January. Both indexes opened higher on Friday.
