2. What I did to investigate lighting techniques.
- Take a photoshoot using dramatic lighting.
- Use a black background and a white background
- Use different angles to see what would relate better to my music magazine.

6. The diagonal lighting enhances
the lighting in the face and
creates a soft shadow on the
image. This makes it look
natural. For an acoustic artist
this would work very well. I took
these two images to show the
studio partly not just my model
on the background. This gives it
a relaxed effect.
The images I took in the studio
show the conventions of lighting. I
tried several directions of lighting
to try emphasize the girls face and
her innocence.
These are several things I could
include on my cover photo. The
lighting on these images have been
positioned on diagonals.

8. The Photoshoots
- Throughout doing the photoshoots I think that the white background
is more effective but for my front cover I shall make the lights brighter
to have a more striking effect and use the softer lighting for the
smaller stories. This can be used to introduce an act such as an
acoustic performer.
- The harsh lighting would be good for bands and more rock/metal
however the soft lighting would be good for the softer music such as
acoustic, quiet relaxed music.
9. My Magazine Photos
- After taking the photographs in the studio I have planned
to use a white background with strong lighting for my
cover photo. This is then going to draw the attention to
the model if the photograph is bold. The outfit I have
chose for my model is red therefore if I have strong
lighting and a red outfit this will draw the eyes of the
target audience and the readers into buying the magazine.
- For my contents page I am going to add several images
from my shoot with fair harsh lighting. Aswell as that I
am going to add some location photographs of another
model that I am going to use for my double page spread.
These will bring variety to the magazine and entice people
to read further into the magazine.
